Bazille Filter Question

Suppose I wanted to set the filter cutoff in Bazille to the frequency of a particular musical note, like C4 or F5, for example. How would I do that? It says in the manual the filter cutoff is in increments of semitones from 0-150. Does this imply the whole numbers correspond to musical notes? Also curious if its the same answer with ACE's filters too. Thanks!

The cutoff frequencies in ACE correspond roughly with MIDI notes, but it's offset upward by 25. For example, cranking the filter into self-resonance and setting the cuttoff to 70 will result in a pitch of A2, which is MIDI 45. Diva is the same way, so I presume the rest of the u-he line does the same.

Bazille was hand tuned to correspond to MIDI notes when Cutoff is set to 64 (IIRC) and KeyFollow is cranked up.
A special property of Bazille's filter is that resonance does not change the tuning. That's very unlike the other self-oscillating models found in the other synths.

What about the LFO's?? I'm still trying to get those tuned and follow the key.For instance on the Blofeld, you'll have to set the speed to 110 (MIDI, 1 to 127) with a 100% keyfollow parameter.Urs wrote:Bazille was hand tuned to correspond to MIDI notes when Cutoff is set to 64 (IIRC) and KeyFollow is cranked up.

What is the easiest way to get the same result with U-He plugins?

Too bad. It should be possible with Keytrack as a mod for the LFO speed. I truly enjoy the gritty sound on the Blofeld when the LFO is keytracking...Urs wrote:The LFOs are just that - LFOs. They're not meant to track keyboard.

Use a Bazille Osc...exmatproton wrote:Too bad. It should be possible with Keytrack as a mod for the LFO speed. I truly enjoy the gritty sound on the Blofeld when the LFO is keytracking...Urs wrote:The LFOs are just that - LFOs. They're not meant to track keyboard.

Tried that ofcourse. It comes close. Maybe the real "gritty-ness" is coming from the Blofeld itself. It is ofcourse an analogue (OSC section) hardware synth.pdxindy wrote:Use a Bazille Osc...exmatproton wrote:Too bad. It should be possible with Keytrack as a mod for the LFO speed. Thnx for the tip anyway

Yes it comes from Blofeld itself. LFOs on the Blo are only going up to a certain frequency (some 3-4 kHz, IIRC), hence they can't track ALL the keys correctly. Also LFOs are likely not updated at audio rate, which definitely results in aliasing at some point too.
And Blofeld is not analog

Isn't the Blofeld a digital synth?exmatproton wrote:Tried that ofcourse. It comes close. Maybe the real "gritty-ness" is coming from the Blofeld itself. And there are lots of other tricks with Bazille... You can create all sorts of lovely grit in Bazille...

Aaahh...you're right...it is a virtual analogue synth.....wavetable synth. I thought the third OSC was analogue. But is a wavetable as well.pdxindy wrote:Isn't the Blofeld a digital synth?exmatproton wrote:Tried that ofcourse. It comes close. Maybe the real "gritty-ness" is coming from the Blofeld itself. Don't get me wrong, the bazille is amazing! I love it! But the addition to blofeld to keyfollow LFO's is just amazing
