About LFO speed - sorry, not possible, backward compatibility... 100Hz is already above "LFO" anyway !! :)
Yes, it's above LFO, but that's where the fun starts :D 100Hz is definitely nice already, but a little more would be cool :-)

Hmm, don't see how this could be a compatibility problem if a knob get's an extended range? Can't think of any conflicting scenario. Except you stored the value not as the value itself but as some percentage of the defined range? Then it's impossible of course.

Post

Nope - people might have automated/modulated/MIDI accessed... the speed, so if this would be done, all their projects would get messed up! See, the eternal Melda improvements are not as simple as it looks! :)

How about a switch on the LFO that switches in a constant of x10.

Have the switch default to x1 when its off, thus no change to the LFO speed. Switch to on and it applies x10 and we get a speed upto 1000Hz

Couldn't that work ?

Post

@Melda: ah I see.

Same problem there with what Dunc proposed I guess? Because there is already a switch (for very low frequencies), which people could have automated (not that I think anybody did that)?

Post

The Dunc's solution was in the effects as there was originally limit to 10x. Now there would need to be a selector... absolutely not, never again, sorry guys, 100Hz will have to suffice.

With regards to the visibility issue when several subwindows are open, here's an example and a possible solution. I don't know how difficult implementing this would be, so while it looks easy to me it could be a headache to do. But it does help a lot.

An example of the visual jumble I'm referring to:

And an example of a solution: just putting a thin stroke within a pixel of the background color at the header clearly delineates the boxes and makes for an easier read:

For your consideration.

Thanks.

Well, I'll check, but it would probably be done only for some styles, too much work :). It doesn't even seem to be that awesome really. And on Mac there are shadows and on Windows 10 there will be too! :)

Well it doesn't need to be awesome, just useful! I just checked out the 8.09 Mac version but the basic problem is still there (actually I don't see any shadows in any of the skins) and I don't think it'll help any situation where the same black window headers are contiguously overlapping as in the example below, which is of course a little exaggerated to point out the deficiency, but gets the point across. BTW, the outline header stroke could in my example above could easily be thicker too, especially the top one.

In this scenario it's too easy to make the wrong choice and with no undo function it's terribly frustrating clicking the wrong button in the wrong window and then trying to figure out what just happened. It really is a workflow breaker.

As for work, well.... we all want MPS to be better, don't we? ;)

Arrrgghhhhh, tremolo sync of filter env can't be automated. Could you add that? :-) (I guess the same holds for volume env).

About the window thing, the problem is that often you have black next to black so you can't distinguish what belongs to what window. Expecially difficult if you have two or more popups open (e.g. an LFO and a multiparam) and the window bars are close to each other and in addition are near to other black elements.
Anyway I like Breeze's suggestion, it will for sure help and it's not such a big change I think.
Shadows won't really help here since it's already black, a shadow on black can't be seen.

edit: Breeze just showed what I wanted to describe

PS: just noticed that the V7 style already had that outer box for popups. It was rather thin (1px I guess), 2 or 3px would be better, but maybe you can just copy the settings, I don't know the technical details here.

Tremolo sync auto: sorry, not possible, long story.

The borders - it's really about the styles... So I'll probably just change the Ironic style to have this, I probably won't change others though.

But not the V7 style included version 8.09. All the skins available in 8.09 seem to be this way.

Well, that's because it is kind of ugly...

Call me a stick-in-the-mud, but in my books I'd take functional and practical vs ugly for an audio app any day. I doubt any of my listeners are going to complain. ;)

Sorry, but I do feel rather strongly about this. It's no comment on the great work you do with all your products and certainly not meant with any disrespect.

Sure, got it, and don't worry, perfectly understandable. Sadly I as a developer need to think about all factors. We'll see ;).
