i agree to disagree, i do like these brighter lines.
if this really distracts you might should try the oneknob plugin by W. :D
We can calculate with a beta towards the end of next week?

I wouldn't change a thing. I think it's obvious that I'd want it even if it looked like FilterscapeVA. Cables, blue lines- all a plus imho.

I don't have the tech knowledge, but it looks like it would skin easily to merely change the Blue hues to other colors just so you could match your mood (like that other, Turkish-made synth).

that last sound clip from urs was impressive.

also really digging the layout. they've done a great job of squeezing a lot into one screen and managing to still make it easy to understand how everything works at a glance.

I'm not sold on the current skin though. I agree that the extra cables and decorative lines are unnecessary and distracting. And the cold blues and greyish white plastic reminds me of car stereos rather than high end gear. When I think of a hive I think organic textures and warm colors - a steam punk hive kind of aesthetic. Maybe this is the sort of thing urs was hinting at when he mentioned a potential patina skin down the road.

Anyways, it seems to be shaping up into a very interesting synth. Really looking forward to the public beta.

been wondering how the dirty engine sounds.
are the three engines modelled after specific gear?

Don't think so.

I've been looking for a bread-and-butter SW plugin for stage use for modern sounds and Hive is about 99% there!

Re pricing, as I understand it's $99 intro price minus the $25 customer survey voucher if you have one. So that's $74 if a lucky one like me?
No brainer is often overused, but not in this instance.

What is the scheduled post intro price?

Edit: Ah I see now "A bit less than Diva and a bit more than Bazille."

"Dirty" has a Steiner-Parker model, i.e. a diode-based Sallen-Key filter. Like MS-20 but "unbuffered", so that current from the second pole leaks back to the first pole. Very smooth, yet very screamy and at times erratic.

We use the same kind of "cheating" as in Bazille to make these filters run at next to no CPU cost. It's therefore not as authentic as, say, Diva, but I think we're getting really good at those "unreal" ones.
