always good to have banks of great new sounds to work off of. right now i'm going through my own v1 presets to see what i can update using the new features. odd that the XLFO frequency slider is flipped compared to the original, but no big deal. i was really looking forward to the new filter settings, but so far their original 4075 remains the most potent. the old v1 is still in there, but as folks say, they strapped it onto an Obie and invented a whole new synth whose analog counterpart would surely have been requisite gear in the late '70s. and pretty dang tasty right here and now.

As long as the introduction of a polyphony option did not break the correct mono/duophonic architecture as was the case with the Creamware Prodyssey.

Don't worry, I was on the beta team and you know how I feel about the duo mode being lost in Prodyssey. Also Dave Spiers was definitely in the same camp so we now have poly mode but not at the expense of duo mode.

Not sure what you mean, v1 didn't have an XLFO.

the original frequency slider on Odyssey, v1 and v2, like all other sliders including almost all of the new XLFO and Xenvelopes gains strength moving south to north. the exception is the new XLFO frequency slider, that increases in speed as the slider is moved north to south. not a big deal by any means, just odd.

Yes, Gforce did a fantastic job on Oddity 2. They addressed ever concern and request from Oddity 1.

Really loving the presets for this. They did a great job there too. So many of them I can just happily play for a long time. Makes it hard to check them all out or even be bothered tweaking much yet!

Definitely agree on the quality of the presets. I'll always end up tweaking a preset to suit the production I'm working on but the Oddity2 presets are of a far higher quality that you usually get. And once you start tweaking is so easy to tailor the sound to your specific needs. Diva may provide more timbral options but Oddity2 just clicks with me. And as I've mentioned before, because it's not swamped in effects (other than the built in delay which I usually disable in favour of Soundtoys Echoboy where required) if a patch sounds good in isolation it sounds just as good cutting through a busy mix.

Oddity2 is starting to lean towards being softsynth of the year for me, close with bazille & spire, they're all great.

Um... I was pretty sure that I wasn't going to get another soft synth this year (as I'd bought quite a few).

I've just tried a demo of Oddity 2. I'm blown away!! Really cool sound out of this thing. :)

My initial reaction, that the sound was not being updated and therefore a disappointment, was wrong. This version really does update the sound capability to modern standards. It sounds good when put to the test with modulations at high frequencies, with low aliasing. And regarding the interface, though the orange is garish, the design of the original shines through, and was always so good that it's a joy to program. The sound design capabilities, the menu-free layout, the color-coded sliders, and the Odyssey sound, all make this a very unique and fun synth.

I was the same... I was quite happy to 'not bother'. But I saw their short promo and I thought it looked kinda' cool to use. And I really liked the sound. Which for some reason, just Oddity 1 didn't do it for me.

And as you said, it's fun to use too. Although, at first I was a bit, 'what are all these 'cagiggers for?', But it's very simple after a short spell, and the layout in great.

I'm looking forward to test the full range of the sounds - As I've just bought it! :)

I mentioned a few pages back that the GUI was beyond what my failing eyesight could deal with, but I kept playing with it by zooming the screen, I've learnt my way about and I'm finding it very hard to resist it now.

It sounds stunning, and the XLFO/XADSR just takes it to another level for programmability.

It took me less than 5 minutes to dismiss Arturia's new Matrix 12, but after several hours with this I'm slowly caving in to GAS :help:

hm, i am interested in the oddity2, too, but then there's also the korg legacy on sale. so now i'm wondering which might suit me better and be more bang for the buck. I'll probably have to wait until the end of december for financial reasons, either way, but i AM tempted.

though if it weren't account-bound, my oddity upgrade coupon would already have ended up in the market place by now. :P :D

No contest in terms of sound quality. Korg Legacy has had no significant updates to it's audio engine since it was launched and it shows.
