MCompare question

wasn't hard to learn not to speak while playback is running in livestream or video recording. It is ok if you guys don't see the point of this with my tutorial stuff, but you can not deny the use of such utility with talkback mics in DAWs like Pro Tools.

I'm not saying it is hard not to speak during playback. My point is that you often WANT to speak during the playback. Anyway since there already is a solution, I think there is no need to do this. I mean it's really simple, but the target customer basis would be tiny tiny tiny... at least at seems to me.

No problem . You know, creating a plugin isn't such a quick task... Though I'm thinking we could put this thing to MUtility, that's like a plugin for odd stuff .

After freeman I will try to add some wishes for mcompare!
What about more analyze functions to compare more precisely, like band splitting for comparing bass, mid and high frequencies?
Maybe add an little analyzer if possible?
Some functions of mutility? Like changing left and right channel?

Cubase uses only 8 inserts, so for a good comparison I need an analyzer, a stereo tool (goniometer), something to split the bands to hear bass, mid, highs in solo. These are already 4 different plugins and until that I have no plugin in my mastering chain, not good.
I know, these are all things for mxxx, but when or maybe a more powerful mcompare plugin?

I don´t know if it´s buggy, but if I solo the left channel I hear the source file on the rifgt side. Is this the correct behaviour.

I think there is more potential in this plug to get the one and only compare plugin.

Hi Marek,

adding a dedicated analyzer is out of question - there is an infinite number of things and way to analyze , so it's just wrong. That's what are analysis plugins for and what's the purpose of plugins in general. After all, in Cubase you can still send the output to another bus and have as many inserts as you wish. It's not effective, but plugins just cannot pay for imperfections of the hosts.

About the left channel - what do you mean you solo it exactly?

Mcompare seems to be so easy, but in the next step it´s behaviour is strange or normal?

1. I tried it in an empty Project Cubase 8 with only one empty audio track. Put mcompare in an insert slot and opened a file inside of mcompare. Now I switched the different channel modes L+R, Mid and Side. Until now everything is fine.

2. Now I tried mcompare in a real Mixsession. Put MCompare in the last insert of my mixbuss chain. Now I tried the different channel modes again and the behave in a total different way than in eyample one. In Channel Mode Side for example I hear every sugnal very loud, also signals which are only in the mid, why????? The Mid behaviour is also strange.
I thought I could compare the "real" side signal of the reference file with the "real" side signal of my Mix, but that doesn´t work, why?

Where should I put mcompare in the chain? I would think I should put it before an analyzer and a stereo tool and here my wish again, this means I need three insert slots for a comparison or is this not the right way?

The manual didn´t help me at that point!

Hi Marek,

well, what's the purpose of that???
If you set it to SIDE, then you basically keep MID intact, but add SIDE from the comparison, which is just crazy unless you have a VERY SPECIFIC purpose. Please just don't try to randomly set parameters ...

You can put the plugin anywhere in the chain, but the basic usage is to put it as the last processing item, potential analyzers after it.

So I can't compare the side signals of my mix and the reference file with mcompare?

I think I used side neg. mid channel mode for my test from above and not mid and side!

What I like to do with mcompare is checking and comparing the side and mid signal of the reference and my mix, is this possible with mcompare and when, how?

Ok, so what exactly do you want? If you simply want to listen to the side/mid of the mix compared to your references, then it's best to just use MStereoScope behind if.

This is what I did as workaround, but that's not smart. Why Mcompare doesn't do that with the channel mode?!

Working your way, it's not really more than samplemagic's magic ab plugin without the option of different stages.

I give my magic ab away for mcompare, then I saw this function inside it, the channel mode. Now it doesn't do what I thought, but for what can I use it? I don't wanna know more than that!

No question, as I say it everytime I'm here at this forum, love your plugs, but they are sometimes a little bit complicated.

You can use the channel modes for some rather more complex things, such as comparing how your master would sound if you left "side" signal unchanged, but other than that you should use dedicated tools.
