Ok, Tracktion is the greatest sequencer ever built for mac OSX! However it still as another thread mentioned seems unfinished with numerouse bugs still existing. Dont get me wrong this last month Tracktion OSX has improved alot and is now very useable in mac OSX. Long story short, there are still many bugs that need to be fixed.

This topic is for all mac OSX users to report there bugs. Please make sure you are running the latest Tracktion build 1.5.1.1.6 and also state what version of OSX you are running.

I think it is of upmost importance to get Tracktion top notch in mac OSX, there is alot of talk about Tracktion v2 (yes I hyped too) but there are issues with OSX that really put my creation at a standing holt. So everyone kindly submit there bugs (please no discussion regarding others thing besides OSX bugs) and I will email this thread to Jules in about a week.

Ok, now the I gonna report two bugs that really got my worried. I am running OSX 10.3.4 and latest Tracktion build.

1. I went to render a 24 bit aiff file of a song I just finished making and mixing. All midi was bounced to audio and I went to export the whole song as a 24 bit aiff file, I got nothing but white noise! I tried twice and nothing but white noise, now it is clearly not a VSTi causing this as all midi was bounced to audio for the mixing process. As you can tell this sucks, I dont know what else to say but if anyone else gets this please let me know what is up. It is certainly frustrating to spend 2-3 days on a song only to have the final product be white noise to do an exporting bug!

2. I have said this one before......please make freeze and render (the one click render not the export option) 24bit. Way to do this number one would be like the PC users have it.....freeze and render bit rate is your audio cards output bit rate. I think I even better way would be in the "settings" page to have a simple option where you can select the freeze and render bit and sample rate with the type of options you would expect (16, 24, 32). That would be a much better way to do it cause say I am on the road away from my audio card and want to still render 24 bit I should have the option in settings. I have said it before this bugger lowered the quality of all my Tracktion songs!

3. Oh yes, one more, this one is pretty lame....but I might as well report it now while I just remebered. Ok, say you are starting up Tracktion and it is initializing your VST's......lets say for example you got the Antares Tube demo in your plugin folder....when Tracktion gets to Tube or anyother VST with a pop up screen during its initialization and Tracktion is not the currently selected app (lets say finder is) you will not be able to hit the pop up screen and will have to force quit Tracktion and it will than initialize all your VST's from the begging which can take a long time. You got me, so lets say you get a pop up that say VST the Grand can not find TheGrand.dat, if you wherre at that moment looking at safari when you go to hit "ok" in the pop up you will not be able to and will than have to foce quit. Whatever.....just something I noticed that should be addressed.

4. Oh yea......key commands in Kontakt are a no go.

Aight folks just submit your bugs or your support for other folks bugs and I will email this thread to Jules. Lets get Tracktion OSX stable.

Regarding bug #1 on my list, I just re exported as a 24bit wav file this time instead of aiff and it worked fine! So I guess the new bug would be fix 24bit aiff export. Glad that I can still now finish and master my track.

Just a reminder to the OSX Tracktion is f**ked posee, things in PC land aren't so great either; I could start a whole thread about PC specific bugs too. Stuff is getting fixed slowly, but there are outstanding problems that have been reported long back.

Simple fact of the matter, Tracktion needs a lot of work, and Jules is only one man doing a lot of work.

So, stop your whining mac people, us windows users are far more chilled out. I mean just look at Jens.

huh, well like I said please no discussion regarding Jules being one man and PC vs Mac. Please lets just compile all the OSX Tracktion bugs and I can than submit it to Jules (Jules=one person) and than he can do what he wants with it, and hopefully fix it. I no I am not whinning I just think it would be good for future updates to have a thread devoted to all the current mac OSX bugs.

-scrolling got worse
-reaktor doesn't work
-freeze tracks have no sound
-keyfile doesn't work

please note that these problems weren't around before, except for the scrolling
I'm running the latest osx

here, reaktor works ok, and even on a "freeze" track it sounds.

So....
OSX 10.3.4 - Reaktor4.1.2 - Tracktion 1.5.1.16
freeze works on a reaktor track.

well you got me wrong there:

Reaktor doesn't work at all

AND my freeze doesn't work at all

considering that i can't render because my keyfile doesn't work, I'm pretty f**ked and pissed off.

I've contacted mackie on this, but haven't received an answer yet...

This update has almost made tracktion useless to me. Try running 3 instances of several voices of absynth, a few kontakt patches, 2 spektral delays, intakt, battery a lot of stretching, reverb and reaktor in standalone without freeze or render on a 1,5 Ghz powerbook

The 24bit .aiff export is an old problem discussed here before. The solution is to export .wav files which is not always ideal on a mac but functional.

I am happy with Tracktions performance on my 1ghz pb (OSX2.6) and find it really useful for quickly sketching ideas (using lots of instances of Halion). Just would like to see ability to sync to qtime vids (with markers etc) and more audio/midi groove/stretch/loop tricks to enhance Tracktions usefulness as a creative tool. I mix in Samplitude or with hardware…

If Reaktor does not show up in your VST folder it is because Reaktor VST's for some reason can not be put in sub-folders. For example if you make a folder called "Reaktor" and put the Reaktor FX, Reaktor 2X8, Reaktor etc in it they will not show up in any VST host and may require you to reinstall Reaktor! So you have to simply put all the Reaktor plugs lose in the library/plugins/vst folder and you may have to reinstall first. However if they ARE showing up and just not working or crashing Tracktion that is news to me as Reaktor is running fine over here. My freeze function is running fine as well.

no, I just put it in there, no folders. It shows when booting and then crashes... No word from Mackie/Jules yet either.
