Sorry if it was answered... I understand- we only have 32 bit version now? Will there be a 64 bit version? Thank you.

A very enjoyable synth to play around with. The "RECORD" mode for the sequencer is so welcome. Sound ranges from nice and soft and warm to the other end of the spectrum. CPU is ludicrously low. I love the layout - one page just like Bazille's Gearporn. Bazille is still more my kind of thing, but I will buy this due to the pure enjoyment of using it. I also quite like the simple and effective filter/osc/sub routing system.

I make music like I play Tekken; randomly push buttons and hope for something good to happen.

The installer for Windows has the option to install a 64-bit version at least.Astralv wrote:Sorry if it was answered... I understand- we only have 32 bit version now? Will there be a 64 bit version? Thank you.

Pitchbendwheel does not jump back to middle position.
Intentional?

Serum is its own thing and is an incredible synth too. I don't think anyone was expecting a WT synth for Hive's release. Zebra is pretty sweet for that anyway.DJErmac wrote:Sorry, big disappointment for me. Being a EDM dedicated synth, I expected a new generation synth based on wavetables to compete with Codex, Serum, ElectraX 2 or MPower Synth (and all those modern alternatives to Massive), and I know U-He's would have been the best one because no one can beat your sound quality. Hive appears retro to me, and doesn't sound as amazing as other U-He products (yes, CPU friendly, I got it). I'll wait for next U-He release, hoping it might be a wavetable synth or something even better.
I don't agree with you at all re. the sound either. In terms of quality, Hive is right up there with their other synths. The frequency analyzer does'nt lie.
Not going to name names, but in my opinion this destroys anything in the same category. I've not heard any other synth for EDM/Dance (call it what you will) with a similar low end, and with such a quality filter.
But if you don't like it that's fair enough, you can't please everyone, as the saying goes.
I will take the Lord's name in vain, whenever I want. Hail Satan! And his little goblins too.

Holy shit! IMHO, if you're looking for a Sylenth replacement, this is definitely it. It almost seems like an alternate version of the same synth, but with several additions and improvements.
But, there is no filter drive and no phase knob for the oscillators, and would love to see those added. I see that this is advertised as supposedly also good for dubstep. Right now, I would have to disagree.
As we are limited to the standard waveforms, and without FM synthesis features or comb filters, phase knobs for each osc is a must. This way I can, in combination with foldback distortion, carve out metallic and digital bass textures. In this area, Sylenth still has the advantage.
That said, I'm getting some killer electro house stuff out of this thing that really nails the vibe of what's currently in style, and turning on the compressor colors the sound in that same special way.

Zebra 3 will be the next iteration of wavetable synthesis. Hive was stated all along as an EDM supersaw type synth intended to be simple, low cpu, and easy to use.Robmobius wrote:Serum is its own thing and is an incredible synth too. Also, it's not finished yet, so I'm sure there will be some really cool things added.

And yeah, Hive sounds great! (for what it is)... Obviously it is not doing the crazy audio rate modulations of Bazille, or the amazing emulation of Diva, nor is it a super synth like Zebra... But Hive has surpassed Zebra as far as supersaw sounds... the flexibility of the unison in the Osc's, better detune, better stereo width. Hive has better low end and core filter quality than Zebra too. U-he development has progressed a lot in the past few years... especially the filters.
And that it has done so with low cpu is really exciting for Zebra 3. Hive is like a taste of how incredible Z3 is gonna be.

Osc phase start is a Mod Matrix target... In the Mod Matrix use Constant as the source and you can dial in the phase start.Xenos wrote:Holy shit! Filter Input Gain is the equivalent of Drive. It is particularly good in the Dirty engine.
