What is the problem in using draft mode in Diva?!!2ZrgE wrote:EvilDragon wrote:

Yes, you are wrong. Certain features require more cpu to sound good. So things like Filter FM, Feedback, Cross Modulation, etc. You will find those things in Diva and it is using those features especially along with high resonance that makes Diva a CPU muncher.chilly7 wrote:Correct me if i am wrong but it looks like it has some features which are not awailable in Diva. Also i like how clean and non aggressive it sounds. So again i wonder how good it can sound in the best quality mode.pdxindy wrote:I doubt it... Hive doesn't need it. It doesn't have features that would use it so the extra CPU use would be wasted anyway.chilly7 wrote:I have to admit that it looks like Hive does not sound bad, but if it sounds that good in draft quality mode how good it can sound in divine quality mode like Diva has.
I wonder is Uhe is planing to put ability to select quality modes for Hive?!!
If you want those features and a Divine mode, use Diva.
P.s. I request this feature now because now it is in the work and it will be much more easy to implement this feature but not when it will be done and to implement this feauture will be much harder.
Take Diva and just have a simple 2 Osc patch without those features and low resonance used and you will not hear a difference between draft, fast, great and divine.
With the current features in Hive, if there were a higher 'quality' mode you would hear no difference.
Or put another way, you are making the (false) assumption that because Hive is low CPU that this is achieved through it being in a low quality mode. Hive is already in high quality mode but unlike Diva it does not need the lower quality modes to make it playable on older cpu's.

Nothing, but we're talking Hive here, not Diva.chilly7 wrote:What is the problem in using draft mode in Diva?!!2ZrgE wrote:EvilDragon wrote:

The premise of Hive was explicitly not to have to use a draft mode on older machines.

It is true.chilly7 wrote:Hopefully it is true!!!
You assume that the lack of a "HQ setting" means that it's not running in some sort of HQ mode. For Hive the only mode there is, is HQ.
You're asking for a change that will change nothing at all, as people are pointing out. The way Hive works, is to, to put it very simply, create supersaws with very low CPU usage. Overall the point of it is to be very CPU friendly but still create massive sound. And it does just that - and it doesn't need to do anything else (that was never the point of it). If you're not looking for something else, then Hive is not the synth you want, because at the core of it, that's what it is and will always be: A CPU friendly EDM synth with stellar sound and u-he quality dusted all over it.
If you have a specific complaint, then point out what it is and I'm sure Urs and the gang will listen, but right now you're asking for something because you seem to not quite have understood what's going on with the synth.
It sort of reminds me of people asking for 64-bit versions of things, because they assume it will magically make things better, never understanding what making a program 64-bit actually means (what the advantage is). Most plug-ins today don't need to be 64-bit either, they just are because the DAW's are (which makes sense).
I make music like I play Tekken; randomly push buttons and hope for something good to happen.

Include a "placebo mode" which increases the CPU load by a tiny amount but does nothing. It will make people happy

Call it "Silently Your Lush Envelope Nurtures The Hive" mode. Or something like that.
