Presets are fun, but changing presets leads to pops and crackles, it would be nice to add some kind of parameters fade in/fade out features for cooler preset changing.

this synth surprise me as he is, again and again. and i like his ressourcen managment. so please, be carefull with your extension-wishes. remember the idea behind this synth and enjoy the workflow. :hihi:

I kinda like the restriction of 3 engines. I can make a patch and quickly flip between the 3 and suddenly find a completely different character. I also worry that with a fourth BYO engine, most presets will inevitably be built using this one which would reduce the accessibility for new users who may not yet have learned much beyond simple preset tweaking.

Love the beta! Such a fantastic follow-up to Bazille, wow...
I dunno why people would wish so badly to combine engine styles... why not just layer two instances and not make the devs do the dirty work? Really... I mean, the amount of extra cpu power that would likely take anyway would justify a whole additional instance.

Anyway, only qualm I have thusfar is the arp doesn't seem to reset to 1? Am I missing something? thought I was able to do this at another time... if not, must be one of the few 'known bugs'

Very good Synth.
I wish me following futjres for Hive:

- Wavetables

and

- To the normal, clean and dirty mode I wish me ultra extreme hyper dirty mode,
that very extreme dirty siunds are possible like in the new synth of Rob Papen called RAW.

That would be fine

Thanks :tu:

If you are going to have a BYO engine, then get rid of the others. It makes them redundant.

- Impossible to use the envelopes of another engine then
- Without the envelopes, it wouldn't make much sense to use another filter for the layered sound then

Besides, it's not about loading dirty work onto the dev's. It's simply a suggestion to remove a (IMO) serious restriction, which would make the synth much more flexible. It doesn't have to happen, if the dev's don't want it to, and it surely doesn't have to happen tomorrow, if they decide to.

richardb09 wrote:This is definitely a fun synth! The sound is pretty good quality, and great to play around with for hours upon hours, all and all a great creation and very easy to use and very straight forward not to mention the GUI that feels like something from an alien ship that landed here from the future. Fun, Fun, Fun!

Of all the features from this synth I love the best is the Arp/Sequencer.
Is there any way you guys at U-HE could add this arp/sequencer to Diva?????
But once again this synth is a great little gem!
Looking forward to the final edition.
Hehe, the Arp and Clock are taken from Diva, the sequencer is new and some things still have to be looked after.

We had a sequencer developed for Diva but it was too complex. We'll add one once we find a good middle ground between it and the one in Hive.

I retouched the GUI of a kitsch way: with HIVE, it seemed so easy because the GUI is pretty much designed as a whole.

I prepared the new images with the script in the Themes folder from my computer but the new Theme is not detected by HIVE.
So I join the images apart, HERE .

These images must be arranged in Panes folder: HD / Library / Application Support / Uhe / Hive / Images / Panes. (on Apple computer)

Don't mind the yellow bit actually, but I don't like the green on the mod slots, imo.

Decided to do a non-EDM demo with Hive. All sound except drum is from Hive. I do cheat a bit by putting Slate VBC at the master track since i like how it glue sounds, not much GR only 0.5 . No other effect are used.

Not my original arrangement, just some midi that i combine altogether on FL Studio 11.

Probably will buy Hive next monday, my paypal account is empty currently.

I think i came across a bug where i had filter 1 routed into filter 2, i switched Amp2 envelope trigger to LFO1 then back to gate, after which there was a constant sound going through only filter 2 (turning sustain up and down on Amp2 affected its volume), the sound was originating from Osc1 and Sub1 but not from Osc2 or Sub2 even though these were active (i soloed everything in turn to isolate the problem). I was using the sequencer at the time, could possibly have been a stuck note but it persisted after all midi input had stopped.

Switching back to LFO1 then gate again fixed the problem and i haven't been able to repeat it since.

I personally think that there is a lot of potential accessing the various
Hidden parameters of the 3 engines, and can see the point of a BYO engine making things complex for some newer to synthesis.

How about leaving the GUI as it is with the 3 engines, but hiding the changes in right click drop down menu items of the things that can be adjusted...

For example, say you want to change unison from linear to expo, right click on voices, and select unison, or expo.

This could potentially provide even more flexibility if the code allowed to mix and match engine types (osc1 linear, osc2 expo etc).

I am just thinking out loud here, so how difficult would this be to implement with the code Urs?

Whilst I'm thinking, another great feature would be the ability to unlink various items. Currently, when you hit the link button, all gui items on the right are linked to gui items on the left. It would be nice to just be able to link the 2 filter cut offs together etc. a simple control click to turn the items you don't want linked could help here...

Just thinking of ways to make the synth more flexible and keep the simplicity it already has...

Last thing that I think could really set this thing off...
The last hexigon:-

How about taking the idea from zebra, and creating a simplified osc editor... I'm not sure if this can work with mipmapping and vectors, but the idea that the user can change/shape the osc would vastly extend the flexibility of the synth.

Food for thoughts, and enought rambling from me,

Cheers,

Aron :hyper:

Is there a fine tune knob for each oscillator?

If not, can we put one where vibrato is and shift vibrato to the right.

Thanks.

Did you use a Madonna song straight from the 80ies?

(Of course, they had nearly the same waveforms and filters in the 80ies, so it shouldn't be too difficult to make 80-styled old school music with Hive, too, not only modern EDM!)

That said, some more - creative - waveforms could give Hive a special flavor, not only the usual bread-and-butter sounds (yes, I know, you can modulate everything, even the sequencer, but I'm a musician, not a modulator!). Really, I cannot hear the usual waveforms saw, sine, triangle, square (pulse), noise etc. anymore, why not add some really creative waveforms?

I'm still waiting for new features & improvements, then I might buy it next year. But I don't need just another bread-and-butter synth, it should have a special flavor (not only the 3 engines).
