I personally am very much in favor of a BYO page.
Those who don't want it don't use it. As far as I can judge it wouldn't cost much, probably the most time costly would be the GUI-part. There are just these "pains" that you'd like the filter from normal but prefer the detune law from clean.
For those worried about it making the synth too "complex" (which I don't understand), there'd be GUI-ways to make the BYO-part less outstanding.
[...normal...] [.....dirty....] [....clean....] [byo]

That seems sensible.

But then why even have Normal/Dirty/Clean?? BYO can do all of them. Just have BYO be the synth and get rid of engines altogether.

slap myself in the face. You're right haha. The filters are the engines already.

Then Hive would loose its soul. Because they engines are the specialty of Hive, at the moment.

because additional drop-down menus would draw off from HIVE's approachability for people new to synths which I think HIVE aims for.
maybe the BYO-function could be buried even more (representing it with a gear symbol for example, like found on many smartphones for user system settings), but I think it's an important feature.

A switch to an "expert view" with more options would be better than drop-down menus. It's not Reaper, after all... :P

Seems some users just want this synth to be finished asap. Why? Why be so impatient. Spend another year on it and keep improving it. I'm not talking about new features, but the fundamentals, the core of the synth. To be honest Sylenth still sounds better imo. Don't rush urs in any way and try to be honest about the synth.

That's true. I wouldn't have any problems if it would be released in April, not in January. Good wine needs to mature to become great wine.

Seriously, to create a vsti as good as sylenth I would wait patiently for YEARS.....

hive is pretty much done in the core, there might be slight changes or more Osc in future but i don't think much will change, otherwise there wouldn't be a public beta. If it would change drastically, all the presets would be for nothing now.

The sound, is fuller, phatter, smoother. The interplay of the filters routings where two filters are linked creating a low pass, band pass, high pass sort of filter in one. Check out the Reese bass preset that ships with the factory bank as the example that comes to mind, plenty others though. Also, the overall simplicity. I admit I've spent a lot more time with sylenth so I am biased. Will have a listen to what others have done with it so far. These are just my initial impressions.

There isn't any problem as long as they're ADDING features. If they REMOVE features (or drastically change them), the older presets wouldn't be compatible any more.
