At the moment I'm alone, always my passion was a problem for my girlfriends - though at first they said they understand it but when they saw how much time I spent on my passion and how unavailable I can be at times ... Then it became a problem. Well can't blame them really I guess... 4ever alone I guess! Or maybe I just need to find a person who has same kind of driving force in their life too ...

At least it's not Justin Bieber
I have found that women tend to be much more tolerant in terms of music, most will listen to a much wider variety of music then most men do. Don't know why that is...

Alone, yes. My family and friends know I'm doing something, but I'm quite certain, it's not considered music.

Good topic Op...yeah I'm alone in my studio but I don't mind that at all,my wife is on another planet music wise(she loves her 80's music) and I'm basically from the early rave scene so our music tastes couldn't really be different
To be fair to her though she doesn't complain about my hardware synth buying habit even when I stretch over £1000 for one,all she says is "all that money for something that makes bleeps and farting sounds!"

Obviously you don't know Tricky Loops, I'm listening to everything. Whether I like it, is another question...
(But I hate over 30s parties, they always make me look so old - I cannot stand listening the whole night to the chart hits from the 70ies and 80ies!

Yes and no... I typically make music alone but I do have a lot of friends who are musicians and/or work in the music industry. It's a lot of fun working with other people but I acknowledge that I can be very difficult to work with.
My wife listens to my music, I have even convinced her to sing a few times (she has a beautiful voice) but it's not really her thing. She likes it when I play guitar and bass (which isn't very often). She is very supportive of my music pursuits.

That's pretty much when my wife shows interest - I can think of a few times when I've set up a drum loop and sequence and soloed over the top and she will just sit and listen.justin3am wrote:She likes it when I play guitar and bass (which isn't very often).
She hates me playing the trumpet though (and so do most people...

Maybe if you go round while they're playing along and knock on their door you could stand there when they answer and clap the correct time to them?vurt wrote:my neighbours have been known to join in on percussion when im playing. their timing is awful though and i always forget to mic the walls up.

Maybe it's the monitoring that's off? I suggest you drill a few holes in the wall to improve, then you could slide a microphone in as well to get recording from both sides.vurt wrote:maybe in summer i will

I used to work at a commercial studio where we recorded a lot of stuff like that. It was really weird because almost all of the records we made for those bands were funded by drug cartels.Tricky-Loops wrote:...not if you mute your trumpet (I LOVE these muted Mexican trumpets in Ranchera/Norteño!)
I later came to find out that it was one of the ways they would launder money. They would sell drugs in California and pay us cash to produce an album or even just a few songs. Then they would take the CDs down to Mexico and sell the music for a profit. I guess it was less risky than carrying cash across the border.
I'm not saying all of that kind of music is for the benefit of drug smugglers. I know most of it is a combination of traditional music and European music styles that were brought over in the 1800's (including Polka
