If someone wants to buy Sylenth 1 , it buy Sylenth1. If someone pirates it's nothing not convince him. Any discussion not have a sense, so also the methods like Dongle, doesn't have a sense in my opinion.(it can only make life difficult for the legal SYLENTH1 users but pirates always find the way to a infringement
any new security)

The problem is that, as you say, you won't be able to change the people. That's why not choosing an efficient copy protection is like leaving your house door open. Honest people won't enter your house, but thieves will welcome the opportunity. And considering Sylenth is such a popular warez product, they better have a good copy protection. To at least make it hard for the people trying to crack it.PiotrPochwat wrote:If someone wants to buy Sylenth 1 , it buy Sylenth1. If someone pirates it's nothing not convince him. Some examples
example1 - Synapse Audio and Dune (serial protection)
Next example 2:
Native Instruments (service center and serial - genial idea !)
Maybe worth it to create something protection like Service Center in NI.
The output is always, but the output is not a Dongle, iLok etc!
(sorry guys)
However, piracy is a race that You never win.

In the KVR, Lennard Digital have a official forum not in gearslutz. This forum is the official place to discuss about next plans for LD not gearslutz
Also I know many people that WON'T buy a plugin who need iLok . And ?TheoM wrote:In fact, i know many people personally that WON'T buy a plugin unless it's on ilok for convenience.
And what about those older and potentially new legal users who cannot tolerate iLok ?TheoM wrote:So doesn't those people's money count just as much as those who wouldn't buy with a dongle?

and now seriously...
Please STOP

I do wish for sylenth to have a good copy protection and i voted syncrosoft, but the other syncrosoft plugins i have takes a long time to open so i will redraw that option.
Not to mention that i hade to tape my syncro key the other day because the plastic casing broke when i put it in my new computer.
And if the key totaly breaks the license is lost forever since there are no way of doing a backup of that license.

I don't like dongles in general because they usually come with only one license. And THAT is a no go for me. I need two licenses at the same time. And almost all other non-dongle software allows me that. They claim that you can move the dongle to every place. Yes, and then you forget it, loose it, etc... Another thing is, when I rent my studio out, my customers need a working license and at the same time I'd like to work at home on other projects. SoundToys for example allow you two iLok licenses = PERFECT, but most other don't do that.
The other reason why I don't like especially iLok is that when Pace screws it up, the buyer is the looser. ZDT and whatever extra services you pay for. And they proved that again about a year ago, where they screwed a lot of accounts. For months some accounts were not able to use their paid software
I was lucky, I got "banned" for only a few weeks. Anyway not good for studios who do a living from music and customers
I hope something like this won't ever happen again... but there is a risk I can't control. So better for me is like U-He does it. Uncracked but still hassle-free for the user.

Are you kidding?TheoM wrote:
I am not going to go through and answer your quotes of which i have an intelligent answer to every one, simply because of your nasty message and YOUR accusation of me making disgusting insinuations. I am not going to deal with people speaking to me like this anymore.
Muted.
This is your words:
cyt''The other thing is Ruben, that KVR is known to be heavily anti dongle and many anti dongle topics to the point of actually even ruining product launch topics.
.... it's one of the most prominent sites on the web for this especially in polls. But an 100 vote poll at kvr does not determine people from all over the net and for example, from other sites like gearslutz, where the poll would be very different and people would vote FOR the dongle..''
You insult people from KVR and Ruben, and now you are a victim?
This is mockery
NO.Your post was aggressive attack for people because they have another opinion than You.TheoM wrote:I wrote a well thought out, genuine post that was trying to protect the company's product, that took me over an hour to write.
Also Your first word ''shame'' is disgusting. ''Shame'' because some people have another opinion about software protection than you?
This is some facts :
Many big software corporation do not use ilok and dongle.
Native Instruments, Spectrasonic, Synapse Audio etc
They have their own copy protection.
Also Korg gave up a few years ago this type of protection for software ( all KORG Legacy Collection versions) (May 2010)
Also in a vote in this topic in official LD forum a people rejected this type of protection .
Deal with it and do not insult people

KVR is a large portal and forum for a software developers and legal users .TheoM wrote:
i was providing facts. KVR is known to be the prominent anti dongle audio forum. Gearslutz is the other way around.
We are not in ''antydongle conspiracy'' .
Lennard has on KVR official forum. Also this is place for user community and discuss about LD product. I will write again. There is no point in what you write.TheoM wrote: Lennard has his support forum here, that doesn't mean that only KVR people are his customers. The end.
Next interesting information for You:
Arturia not supported this type of protection ( in the past arturia software used USB dongle for all products). Arturia now have special ''Arturia Software Center''(Similar to Native Instruments Service Center).
The conclusions suggest themselves
Your first post was aggressive and contains insinuations.TheoM wrote:By the way, anything i may have written is child's play in comparison to the barrage of insults and abuse from you in the last couple days. Practise what you preach.

The last one was just a year ago... Yes, nothing is perfect. But a software company that sells security should know it better than self-destroying their customers. These were not incontrollable external influences causing the issues.TheoM wrote: Ok,, pace has had some windows software issues 14 years ago. They are all over. Pace had a glitch a couple years ago with their server. it is now better than ever and i have experienced perfect uptime with it. Nothing is perfect but they have gone to extremes to make it as about reliable as anything can be.
No, they did NOT go to extremes, at least not from a end-user's point of view. I opened a bug case and never got an answer. According to a lot of threads I wasn't the only one.
At the moment it runs perfect. I don't complain. Still I'd recommend developers not to rely too much on Pace.
Definitely!TheoM wrote: If you note, i think most would agree the dongle in sylenth's case would only be a viable option if Lennard provided two codes.
Not true. U-he's protection is still uncracked. Older versions are available, because the new protection system were introduced later.TheoM wrote: Anyway, it's his choice, his call. I made my call, if he uses serial, C/R or even u-he serial method, sylenth will be all over every wares site in a matter of days or weeks. If he uses Ilok eden, it won't for the next few years or maybe never. Time will tell, but i did say all i need to say so will exit this topic now.

I'm pretty happy with the current License protection. If it goes to something like USB dongle, then I will sell inmediately my license and I would choose an alternative, since I don't want mess up with these annoying dongles.
Please, keep it as it's or improve it like u-he did.
