There are several synths that could suit your needs but, Absynth may be the mother of them all when it comes to those mentioned styles.
Soundsets and presets for Absynth.
Sounds and presets for UVI Falcon "Iterata X".
Bazille soundset - Crystalline Textures 3.

Liv,

I am glad you responded.

For one you and a few others with similar views have saved me time by me not investing more time to find something to beat Absynth. You saved me a LOT of time.

I am well informed about some segments of the digital music creation and complete ignoramus on other aspects. My knowledge of Absynth is very limited. Please bear with me.

If I remember correctly I have never bought third party samples or content or presets for Absynth or any other VST, VSTi or DAW. This is all new to me.

To get the most out off and to create more original sounds in Absynth I could or should import my own samples. Or is it better to get third party content as I will get not only get new samples but also new presets made by an expert in these matters.

A huge +1 there.

Absynth can easily throw punches with the best most expensive plugins out there for these styles.

While I don't tend to use it as much as Omnisphere or Alchemy, I could make music with only Absynth and be completely fine for ambient/downtempo tracks. There is so much this synth can quickly accomplish for these styles while sounding great especially if you make your own patches.
SW: Cubase 9.5 | Komplete 11 | Omnisphere 2 | Perfect Storm 2.5 | Soundtoys 5
HW: Steinberg UR28M | Focal Alpha 50 | Fender Jazz Bass | Alesis VI25

Automatically reading the loop points in a sample, and doing away with the arbitrary 999,999 samples range for loops in a sample....

You are the only one who could answer but, if you find yourself not being able to create your own patches I think theres enough 3:d party presets to last for a lifetime.

Whether to use samples or not, theres plenty of possibilities using simple waves and wavetables. I have released three sound sets (see sign) that use no samples at all and am finalizing a fourth The Abyss (also only wavetables).
If you want to use samples in Absynth (as many do) then theres even more infinite universes to explore.

It's worth checking out Galbanum's Architecture Waveforms for Absynth...25,000 new single-cycle waves for both Oscillators and LFOs on sale for $20 right now.

It took me a while to wrap my head around this synth (Crystal Wizard who posted earlier in this thread has helped out). I do hope NI keeps up development, they can start by ditching those itty-bitty aliased fonts.

I don't know what I would like to see in Absynth 6, but I'm for hell sure that I WANT TO SEE Absynth 6 . I'm not using it much, but learning it more is high on my list of things to do. I always had a feeling that it has many aspects to it that others synth can't offer.

I'm not exactly sure what NI is up to (recent history is....strange) but I seriously doubt that it's worth hanging your hat on the next big update.

Trust me, I'd love to be wrong.
I suspect since NI did not include not one V6 (Kontakt, Reaktor, Absynth) in the Komplete 10 that they are up to something very Big.

Native Instrument will convert Reaktor into a DAW. They will buy out Reaper and use it as the frame work for the new DAW and it will be called AKKolade obviously in honor of my acronym.

It will support VST3.6, ARA for Melodyne. AKKolade will be multi-touch friendly and include several top iPad apps ported to run as multi-touch VST and VSTi. This “Reaktor” DAW will be able to host VST’s and VSTi’s.

Native Instrument will scour the internet for users’ Feature Requests and implement as many as it is humanly possible. And because I broke the story I will be asked to provide my list of demands of what I want to be implemented. Obviulsy I will hand over a list of features I want to be included in Absynth 6.

Absynth was I think the first virtual instrument I bought. I took to it very readily. I had a little knowledge going in and I had kept up with my reading in between, well a lot of DX7 programming and the time when I could have my own computer.
I don't use it very much today and when I do it's something I built in it YEARS ago. Fortunately I was quite prolific at that time.

When 5 came out they basically borked 4 for Kore 2, and it's been a nightmare since. I have 5 now and it's a disappointment. I mean, I like this morph button quite a lot, that's about it for me. I guess that's kind of worth it. But I have all this trauma from NI breaking shit and it begins here for me. I had to go back to an earlier version to use it in Kore, I realized the other day, or the other month. It's f**ked up. A4 _still_ tricky because Kore was trained to hate it. Probably only will use it outside Kore, they borked Guitar Rig in it now.

So, what would they do, copy some other engine's tricks? Mehville. I think it kind of has reached its apex.

I am new to the Kore 2 stuff. Are you saying the Kore 2 and Absynth 5 are not compatible? I ask as I just a few minutes ago was checking out Kore2.

the latest update won't work in Kore. I had to go back to 5.1.1. They changed the type of file an 'Absynth sound' even is, again. And now Guitar Rig [4 & 5] KoreSounds open empty.

5.1.1 and earlier works ok, however.

edit in service of not spreading bad info, NOW {for no reason I have the. first. clue. about} Guitar Rig 4 .ksds are fine inside my larger .ksds.
