Now that I have Nexus and am looking into more expansions, it seems like some from a while back were removed for their site...

Vintage Drum Kits
Total Piano
Crank

Any others? I wonder if they are coming back or gone for good?

I guess the discontinued expansions were so horrible that people forgot they existed or don't care! Lol. But you'll be happy to know SID expansion is now a free expansion (Advent calender).

Also PsyTrance is another one I found out is discontinued.

Cool 8)

Some samples are reincorporated... at least it feels this way.

Their old layout left a lot to be desired. The new expansions are quite nice. I just got the Hollywood bundle and it is better than anticipated.

There are not just discontinued Nexus expansions but sample packs as well. The reFX/Vengeance concept is pretty simple.

Step 1: Just remove products many people paid for.
Step 2: Mix up the sounds and release it with a new name.
Step 3: Let users pay for it again.

I think it was Vengeance itself who wrote this in its forum.

or Step4: Release it as a free expansion as xmas gift (SID)

Indeed that was a pleasant surprise, thank you :hyper: Looking forward to seeing some other discontinued expansions (hopefully) come back from the dead! :phones:

According to the Vengeance Sound forum, they discounted several expansions, to keep the catalogue of expansions small.

The really bad thing on this is in my eyes, it was kind of a silent removal. User`s who had purchased it, can`t download the purchased but discounted expansions anymore if they lost it, for exampe hd crash etc. :?

reFX/Vengeance is well known for d*** moves.

so you there is no way that you can resale the expansions, but they can remove it from the shop and you cant download them anymore, when you had a HD crash?
and i heard some stories from sound designers too.
also search on google for Michael Hartmann + refx you wont be disappointed.

i wont buy anything from refx and their other company and i rate it nobody of my friend to either.

one a side note: i have to admit the strategy they do on nexus 2 is brilliant - bust people with a license and their beloved dongle and then remove content from the shop and make it unaccessable for people, who bought it. :tu:

OMFG googled it and have to say refx seems to be such a d*** company :dog: I'm so glad I've never bought something from them or Vengeance. And now I know for sure I never will. One can only warn others!

Yes I have complained about this to no end. I bought the "complete" Nexus 2 package about a year ago to later find out it isn't exactly complete. I had an opportunity to work with a well known producer recently but he was apparently using some "discontinued" Nexus expansions so I couldn't hear what was going on when he sent the project file. I contacted reFX and they won't sell any of their discontinued products for literally any price! Yet if you're a software pirate you can access them all day. A lessor person would have just downloaded the old expansions since they refuse to sell. I call this phenomena Reverse Piracy. Piracy is when you refuse to pay for a copyrighted material. Reverse piracy is when the copyright owner refuses to sell their copyrighted material. I was told they discontinued them for being low sellers. If that's the only reason, why would they refuse to sell even at a ridiculous amount I offered them? Discontinued products are my only grip with this industry. I just want to be legal and pay for what I want. When something is not available legally any more, and companies no longer want to sell it, why don't they just set it free instead of making it illegal to get at all.

Maybe they will make the discontinued packs freebies for this year's advent calendar

yes this is the best solution! let's annoy the (after that maybe ex-)customers who bought the expansions regularly and release them free for all. :dog: its a shame how small the value of a customer is for this company...

the ones who use a pirated copy of nexus are clever and the real winner. and i got the feeling more and more people become these :tu:
