if this includes a few of the AIR synths i might be sold at that price point though
Advance Keyboards include Vacuum Pro, Loom, Hybrid 3, Xpand!2, Velvet and Transfuser by AIR Music Tech, Eighty Eight Ensemble by SONiVOX and exclusive artist launch packs from TOOLROOM RECORDS (downloads). Plus, there are 100's of other VI's and sounds from a growing list of partners, available for purchase, downloadable from the VIP Store.

Hmm... I don't get it. It's a plug-in inside your daw that loads other plug-ins ? Is it really that different from a wrapper ? :help:

rod_zero, it has 4 banks of 8 encoders and buttons.
yeah it obvious, as any other controller, it has banks. But why only 8 encoders? So limited for controlling a synth. I dont want to remeber where I mapped one parameter: it was page 2 or 3? and so you scrolling through banks.. .

Everyone sticks to eight, the first one to come with 16-32 will have a winner..
These exist already. They are the Novation SL Range and the Nektar Panorama series.

It's always said that what makes hardware more fun than software is the tactile interface, and I kind of agree, I like to have parameters accesible easy or at least one push button away (as in elektron synths or ultranova).

Still midi controller manufactures insist in only give us 8 encoders...well I have Ableton Push (which by the way has 16 Banks) and this wouldnt add anything to my set up, sad because I like the concept.
I agree, having 8 knobs for VST control is just not enough. Many plug-ins would have over 50 pages. that's crazy. Even the simple ones will have lots of pages.

These AKAI ones look very nice and they did one thing much smarter than Komplete Kontrol at least - They have buttons under the knobs for GUI buttons. Whereas Kontrol has to assign buttons to knobs! (now that is insane). however even with the buttons, I don't understand making a master control keyboard and only having 8 knobs. It's so weird.

yes, it doesnt produces another version of the plug as automap, seems better but it has to be rock solid.

I, on the other hand, don't care for any of these products and am wondering if maybe they will give a cheaper version without the bloat of what I consider worthless anyway. Or if I can, at the very least, sell it off to someone that thinks better of them than I do?

The other big bonus is that you can them switch plugins seamlessly. So you can switch between Kontakt, Hybrid, Matrix 12.... patches without having to manually unload / reload plugins - it does all that automatically for you.

A proper Kore replacement? :D

Should have 88-key version, too.

+1.

88 notes would be great.

Can the controllers/knobs can act as standard knobs sending data without the wrapper thing also ?

i would like a "barebone" version myself as i don't really want any of the included software and don't understand why they are always pushing synths on customers that might already own said synths

still at least the air synths seem decent and not completely useless so if the price is right i probably will get it unless something better comes along at NAMM

Wonder why Steinberg/Yamaha don't do a controller like this and have groove agent, pad shop, retro., and halionsonic to be browseable via the controller.

Yes. When you don't use the wrapper they send midi CC. Actually you can even set them up to use a hybrid mode, when using the wrapper, with some knobs controlling vsts and other knobs sending midi CC.

You can actually load groove agent, pad shop, ... any plugin you want really.... and browse it from the controller.

Can you program the display in any way?
