Wow...people, please remain calm. We're not in search of any conspiracies, accusations or mockeries.

We were just searching for some input regarding the license protection. As you probably understand, piracy is a big problem for us and we feel it's our obligation to our (new) customers to make sure Sylenth1 has a decent copy-protection without any extra hassle.

Forcing all our customers to buy a iLok or E-Licenser was never in anyone's interest so Lennard simply decided he wants to keep Sylenth1 accessible by not moving into dongle-protection.

Sounds very fair and reasonable. Good decision.

Using iLok would actually keep Sylenth from being pirated. I can see why "The way it was works fine for me" is so popular.

No dongles, please. Contacting Urs is the way to go.

Wonder what's so difficult to get about this:

Unless you want to believe that dongles are an option of course, but Ruben wrote a couple of times now that it never was an option. Apart from that, i think it'd be good to let themselves decide now which way to go. They got the result of the poll now, however representative that is... i mean KVR is not really the place to ask that question, neither is an internet poll in any way representative. In fact, i have no idea what would be representative. The people using it heavily in the studio will rather not come here, the people using the crack won't care at all. Finally, i'd go for what i believe is the most effective way to prevent as much cracks as i can.

Ruben. You should get in contact with Giancarlo at Acustica Audio. They've got some pretty solid yet unintrusive protection over there. Very quick and easy for the customer.

Problem with U-he's way: You cannot control how many licences are activated. People can share one licence for example. If the serial is shared, of course it can be blacklisted. But if a group of people team up to buy, you cannot do anything about it.

For this reason for example Cytomic uses C/R instead of a U-he style serial protection (I think I read that in the "Drop" thread some time ago).

I kinda get the feeing people are missing some of the point here. There are a lot of people using Sylenth, many in a semi-professional manner, that have not paid for it. You only have to look for Youtube videos to see these warez-users in action, even big producers are doing it.

Its all good and well saying pirates will only ever pirate, honest people will always pay but that isn't the reality. More effective copy protection will help to encourage at least some pirates to pay for an upgrade, that I believe is where Lennard and co are looking regarding this method. Urs claims to have sold many licenses to previous warez users that have been time-bombed. Some people occupy a grey area and just need that extra push to part with their money.

Forcing existing customers into using a dongle seems to be unfair and i can understand why its not being considered a serious option. Perhaps the Pace Eden software thing that AIR use is the way to go.

I'm guessing a system has been settled upon now though since the update hype is in progress. Although I'm not that big a fan of Sylenth myself, i hope Lennard gets some decent sales from it.

If you don't want licenser dongle ? Why don't you take a soft Elicenser ?

The license would be locked to 1 PC/Mac, then. As you can see from the poll, this is even less popular.

Really? I thought most of your customers just forgot to install their legit license? :D
Whoever wants music instead of noise, joy instead of pleasure, soul instead of gold, creative work instead of business, passion instead of foolery, finds no home in this trivial world of ours.
