Yes. Thanks for your patience. I have tried both bridged mode and 'Only native (disable bridging)'. Both modes give the same stuttering.

Post

What resample mode are you using in TX16Wx preferences?

Post

"Default sample interpolation mode" = Sinc128

when I changed this setting to 'Default' things work much better.

stuttering seems to have stopped and CPU use is around 7%.

problem solved. Thanks much!

Post

Yeah, sinc interpolation takes a shitload of CPU...

Post

Heh. What Dragon said. Default is normally linear. I suggest you check your global settings and set it back to either linear (default) or hermite (best result/perf ratio). Sinc interpolation is really only truly useful for offline rendering (see setting: render interpolation).

ED: Good catch!

Btw, even 7% load sounds pretty high on a newish i5, but it is probably related to your buffer settings. Anyhow, happy to hear stuff works better again.

Cheers

Thank you. Will do. I edited the title of the thread to indicate you've solved this. :)

I know this is an old thread but I'd like to add something that others might find useful. Like the OP I was having trouble with the TX16Wx stuttering, all other VSTis were working ok. In my case the PC was a Toshiba M50 laptop (Intel i3 based, Win 10, 8GB RAM).

My problems sounded more severe than the OP. The stuttering was very bad with the resample mode = default. That's when I found this thread.

I set the resample mode = sinc 128 just to see what would happen and it became many times worse. A 4 second mdi clip (using 16 channels) took around 1 minute to play in Reaper. The Reaper performance meter was showing 23% overall, but over 400% just for the track with the VSTi - (I don't even know how that is possible.)

Thanks to the advice in this thread I had a look at my laptop's power settings. They were set to the Toshiba Eco mode, which hasn't previously caused any issues. However in this instance, setting the laptop's power mode to 'Balanced' has allowed the TX16Wx to perform much, much better. So far I have tried 32 simultaneous voices with no stuttering.

I don't pretend to understand exactly what Toshiba's 'Eco' mode constrains, but I do know that I shouldn't use it if I'm using the TX16Wx plugin.

glad it helped
