sure. A good compressor could be a nice thing to add a some time.

until then there are tons of great ones on the market, and its not a prob to run one after KS in a DAW if/when desired.

I own all your reverbs and your Architecture Waveforms, but the best chance of me purchasing something in this price bracket is a FabFilter demo policy, 30-days, fully-functioning, enough time to get attached/make sure it's a proper fit, without hassle while I put aside the funds.
demo is 80 hours of usage time. For most people this will actually be longer than 30 calender days.

Usage time is only counted while in a active use state.
It's the 30 minute timeout and disabled preset saving that's the issue. Perhaps I'm in the minority, but I only have the patience to deal with timeouts that make me restart from scratch about 3 times and then I stop demoing.

Hey Andrew, I've been dying to see what you'd be releasing, really cool that it's finally here!

This is right up my alley. The only problem is that I just don't have a computer that makes it practical to use at the moment (too slow, and running Vista) :help: Even though Vista isn't officially supported, KS is still running on my machine, it's the CPU that really is the limiting factor--but there are some patches that I can run (currently a duo core, 2.53 GHz--yeah, it's ancient :P )

So, I won't be able to purchase at this time, but I am going to keep demoing it and grit my teeth with bouncing to give it a full workout, I'll try posting some audio later on when I get a chance--I really like the sounds coming from this, but it certainly isn't a linear process in getting results.

Good luck with the release!

Hello everyone

Andrew .. to support you to continue to make cool things, I bought Kaleidoscope.

But unfortunately it does not work with Cubase 8 Pro on Win8.1. Kaleidoscope makes absolutely nothing !! I d'nt find any support in the manual too. I did it with audio input or with a synth, even Auto or Offline ... nothing !! the signal comes out exactly as it's going in.

What can i do ? Do you have any instructions or a "how to" video?

Cheers + Thanks

No point in stating the obvious.

Post

@BoerniH - Have you pointed it at its content as per the readme?

Copy the resource files from the download somewhere. Then open the plugin, go to the Info tab and near the bottom right select the Library Location.

Sure.

I just mean people like Andy, Urs, etc, etc have already made such amazing compressors that we really don't have any way to add anything meaningful to the topic of compression. And well it would be hypocritical of me to just throw something together quickly so I could say I have a compressor in KS, when I am critical of this kind of thing when it comes to putting reverb engines in synths etc. like I mention on the Manifesto page in "Plays Well With Others".

I'd rather use a compressor from Andy or Urs, or whomever where I know it is state of the art... We haven't study the topic of compression enough to make something on that level at this point. Prob we are best focusing on spatial and creative effects...

Yes please stick to interesting creative effects not things like comps and eqs.

I will have to make some videos yes. Prob not until after NAMM.

Def works in Cubase. Cubase is the DAW I personally use the most. And Sound Forge is my stereo editor of choice. These two are prob tested more than anything for that reason.

To get sound you need to:

1) Authorize (enter SN) if you are using the full version
2) Link to the Resource Library
3) Load a preset. You should see an image in the image display area, NOT a completely black area.
4) Feed KS some input signal, or set white to 200% and lock.
5) Start playback in host (if Phase Lock is set to "To Host" as is the default -- if set to "Internal" the clock will be free-running, always on)

Post

re phase lock: "To Host" is the normal choice.

However some hosts do not communicate timing information to the plug, such as Sound Forge. In such hosts you must use "internal" or the modulation clock will not run as it is waiting for a signal from the host that it will never receive...

This means if your sometimes use Cubase, and other times use Sound Forge for example, you have to switch this preference depending on which you are using.

So try switching internal/to-host if you don't get sound from your in your host.

Right on. Best of luck with the release.

I think that what Greg was perhaps getting at was that sometimes the resonances can be a little harsh, and that some way of taming them inside the plugin might be helpful.

I have been trying to EQ them out FWIW.

But you have a great lowpass in KS.

Andrew, this is very cool! Thank you for your informative posts and responses in this thread.

I enjoyed reading the KS Manifesto last night in the wee hours (I went to make some tea after my first scan after I knew I wanted to give it a thorough read) which to some extent "resonates" with my interest in 3D fractal animation tours, space ambient soundpieces and a recent interest in Pythagorean mysticism.

Simon (Sampleconstruct), I also appreciate your jam demos in this thread -- I think you are doing 2CA a service with those even or especially as they are jamming and ludic rather than tutorial and I'm sure this will also help the KS ecology grow in general.

I have to consider my personal economy but this has definitely piqued my interest and is on my list.

Best wishes for a successful launch and development!
