I'm delighted as well. Tapping my foot to Stylus RMX mixed with what sounds like the funkiest dirty B3 player around. I'm gonna have some fun...

yup. see above for the file formats...abstractcats wrote: DOH! Yeah, that did the trick! Thanks. Feeding it wave files and images NICE! SOLD! ThanksI've only had a min. with. I assume, I can add my own images?
than manual is extensive... this stuff is all in there.
The manual was finished 2 months before we released the product -- which I guess will officially be tomorrow -- as I know this stuff is foreign to most people and requires a lot of explanation... It goes very deep for those who want to know all the details.
(which is more than I can say about the B2 manual which still needs a few final things -- shame on me!! ...but people generally understand what reverb does, even very fancy ones like B2)

is that a joke ?
anyways I'd like to know why too. You talk about standards. WAV might be so, but 64 bit ?
Umm. no. not really.

It's a rather useless indicator in my opinion.
Actually, I think this is the Windows SmartScreen feature. It can be turned off, but they advise against it.

absolutely brilliant work
.tun or .scl support coming?
just filter with resonator?

just figured out that it filters with out resonators if desired!

Andrew, I suggest you append this (and possibly other tips) to the first posting so it can be easily referenced.Galbanum wrote:To get sound you need to:abstractcats wrote:Abou 2min, from buying, BUT cant get the demo working, in FLS 11. (it wont load into the Pattern list, tells me to try it in the mixer FX section, I assume thats right) but cant get any sound from it.
1) Authorize (enter SN) if you are using the full version (or make sure Demo is still active if using Demo)
2) Link to the Resource Library
3) Load a preset. You should see an image in the image display area, NOT a completely black area.
4) Feed KS some input signal, or set white to 200% and lock.
5) Start playback in host (if Phase Lock is set to "To Host" as is the default -- if set to "Internal" the clock will be free-running, always on)
Does it help?

The copy of the RIFF (WAV) document I have does not limit the sample size in any way, except it must fit in a WORD (which I suppose is 16 bits?):Daags wrote:dem's da rules ?Galbanum wrote:Need to be 64-bit, 2048-pt. Code: Select all
Microsoft WAVE_FORMAT_PCM format
The following sections describe the Microsoft WAVE_FORMAT_PCM format. If the wFormatTag field of the <fmt-ck> is set to WAVE_FORMAT_PCM, then the waveform data consists of samples represented in pulse code modulation (PCM) format. For PCM waveform data, the <format-specific-fields> is defined as follows:
<PCM-format-specific> ->
struct
{
WORD wBitsPerSample; // Sample size
}
The wBitsPerSample field specifies the number of bits of data used to represent each sample of each channel. If there are multiple channels, the sample size is the same for each channel.
For PCM data, the wAvgBytesPerSec field of the `fmt' chunk should be equal to the following formula rounded up to the next whole number:
wBitsPerSample
wChannels x wBitsPerSecond x --------------
8

Cheers Andrew!Galbanum wrote:polyslax wrote:
This is quite nice when used in a more subtle fashion for textures, treatments and atmospherics. Too much of that shrill additive vibe doesn't do a lot for me, but there's plenty to work with here. I'm hoping to get more interactive with the settings... tried a few things so far with mixed results... haven't looked at the manual yet.
I'm not sure yet if this is a tool I'll invest in, but the first outing was promising.
Congrats to Andrew and Denis!
Thanks man. Re "shrill additive vibe" and "EQ'ing resonances" as mentioned earlier:
The Soft control is your friend. If you are using KS purely for generative things (i.e. White is set to max) the resonators are receiving white noise...
I'm steadfastly refusing to read the manual.

I agree with what some others were saying, we don't see enough resonator VSTs around. This effect is very nice, it can make quite a diverse range of sounds, different from other plugins I'm used to seeing.
I have noticed that the input material really isn't the important thing to the resultant sound; seems the main thing is just get some sort of sound that continues along, to continue exciting the resonators using the tuning and image mapping. Even the note/notes played don't matter so much - at least that's my experience. Not a bad thing, but bears mentioning, would be interesting to hear if anybody else experience is different.

From what I gather we will be able to use our images and our own audio samples in Kaleidoscope. Is this so?

It doesn't use audio samples to produce sound as such, you can use 64-Bit wav files to generate tuning tables which then quantize the resonators tuning-wise. So you feed it with either an external audio signal or internal white noise or mix both together.Kalamata Kid wrote:From what I gather we will be able to use our images and our own audio samples in Kaleidoscope.
