Did you try to do the very same thing (=changing from speakers to headphones) in other audio software using the very same MME setup? Does it crash?

ok after doing some testing i was able to recreate the crash and i found a bug in the process.
1.open mulab
2. press play
3. while its playing right click on your speaker icon and select playback devices
4.change it to something else and press "set default"
5. bug #1 you will notice when you go back to mulab the transport controls do not work.the rewind function simply does nothing
6.on top left press mulab and click audio setup and mulab will crash.
ive done this several times to make sure it could be recreated
1.open mulab

When you change anything about the audio device, first go to MULAB menu -> Audio Setup. Then while the dialog is open, change what you want to change, then close the Audio Setup dialog and continue your musical workflow. Does that help?

well i've pretty much figured that much, but mulab should be impervious to these kinds of accidents. the transport controls not working after changing your audio device default pretty much makes mulab unusable at that point.

I tried several other audio softwares and did the same as you did and they all suffer from the same issue. The problem is not inside MuLab but in the way the MME system is working, imho. I would appreciate if you change the title of this topic to "audio software crashes when i change playback device".
