Wtf??One reason for doing an iOS plugin first could be to earn some money to later invest into the development for PC/MAc plugins.
You can develop on PC for free. No investment needed. Tools are readily available and easier to use.
For developing iOS you need to buy unecessary hardware for thousands of euros and use proprietary buggy software with no alternatives.
It's more likely they just wanted the iwannabees to get interested in their products. Purely stupid move. Get ready for yet another Waldorf bankruptcy.

Wow, i expect stuff like that from other company's products threads, but since when is it hip to troll Waldorf? Unless you have any solid evidence of another "bankruptcy".

I don't think he was referring to hardware. As Ingo said, they're not hobbyist developers living with their parents. They're a team of actual professionals to pay as they have multiple products on multiple operating systems in multiple formats.mkdr wrote:Wtf??One reason for doing an iOS plugin first could be to earn some money to later invest into the development for PC/MAc plugins.

Well the problem for Nave is that it came out for iPad first so people already created expectation about its price and value. If it had come out as a vst first nobody would be whininng.
But for me the price of the VST versions makes me consider other alternatives (other vst's) or an audio interface to turn my ipad in to a desktop synth. Nave is great either way (iPad or vst) but not a instant buy at that price (also considering it uses elicenser which I am willing to sawlllow even if I dont like dongles)
So in my case waldorf may lose a sale of the vst version and the money probably will be spent on the audio interface.

...so you can publish your creations on the biggest, most popular and lucrative software market on the planet, where a (proportionately) far smaller number of users run cracked/pirated software. You're right, why would anyone bother?mkdr wrote:For developing iOS you need to buy unecessary hardware for thousands of euros and use proprietary buggy software with no alternatives...

I don't rely on this as I waited for such discount in 2014 for Largo but nothing. €149 is too much for me and when I convert it to NZ dollars it is a fortune!chk071 wrote:True, that'd be more like it then.masterhiggins wrote:They have frequent 30% off deals, probably twice a year.
No thank you, I just re purchased Massive for $70 from the Market Place, so I'd rather lose this extra luxury bit of sound.
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

I just received a newsletter from Waldorf.
For NAMM there will be another sale:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Other content of the Newsletter:
nw1 Wavetable Module for Eurorack
nw1 is our debut product for the popular Eurorack format. It includes an advanced wavetable engine with independent control of spectral envelope and noisiness – just like Nave.
Wavetable scanning is cyclic with optional modulation of travel speed, position, spectrum and more. By providing the worshipped Waldorf wavetable set from the classic Microwave and Wave synthesizers, nw1 will enrich your Eurorack modular system as a potently powerful sound source.

Attack Drums for iOS
We have migrated our virtual drum and percussion synthesizers Attack to the iPad. Its impressive sound engine is cleverly complemented by an integrated 16-step sequencer that is as fun to use as it is useful.
Attack offers 24 instruments – each entirely programmable through a stunning, touch-optimized user interface. Its oscillators are fat, the filter flexible, and envelopes lightning fast.

Nave for VST/AU/AAX
The award-winning Nave has succeeded in changing perceptions of what a serious iOS instrument can be, thanks to unique sounds simply unachievable with any other synthesizer.
We have often been asked when Nave would be available on other platforms. This new Nave brings that notable Nave sound engine to your favourite DAW.

The Waldorf Edition 2
Tellingly, the classic Waldorf Edition has had a visual makeover, but its core values remain unchanged and unchallenged: the holy trinity of inspiring software instruments! Get your groove on with a slamming drum synth providing plenty of powerful percussion voices. Flex your sound-sculpting muscles with a real – and really assertive – Waldorf filter.
The new Waldorf Edition 2 version also brings an exceptionally expanded effects section (with Delay, Equalizer, Drive, Phaser, Flanger, Chorus, and Reverb)
Waldorf Edition 2 will be available 2nd quarter 2015 for 69 €. All owners of a Waldorf Edition will be able to update for 10 € only.

Just added more informations about the 4 new products from the newsletter. See my post above or at the OP of this thread. This also includes links for descriptions of all 4 products now.chk071 wrote:Alright, didn't see. Well, that's that then.
The new product pages are officially available at the Waldorf website now (under Products):

FWIW the screenshots for Walodrf Edition 2 do not seem to be from the latest GUI updates/improvements.

As for Nave, the dev (Tempo Rubato) said on Twitter that the desktop version uses 95% new code. So basically it's rewritten from scratch for desktop. But it will be preset compatible iOS to desktop. Probably not the other way around though(?).
Here's my bank with around 120 presets. Have no idea how they will translate to the desktop version, since a lot of them also uses the iPad surface as a modulation source, altho many do use the mod wheel and on screen XYs. All free of course: https://www.audiobombs.com/users/ChrisG
