New song

I have to admit that this song wasn't created overnight. It has been evolved over a period of 18 months. And I started with a few tracks and worked on it nearly every day while commuting by train (and a flight long to La Palma / Canaries). Don't be feared by the sheer number of tracks. Just start experimenting ...
For me it's definitely hobby. No, it's passion! No pro would (and need to!) spend so much time into one song.

Maybe I should spent more from the spare time on the composition window then chasing the newest, best, biggest VST Instrument, Effect, DAW (or reading > 200 sites why camel has closed......)
Have found the next big hint in your composition (I know, I should work actually but it is just
.....), using rack-outputs other then the "master"
.
The structure of the composition and the racks for me is really great help, whether in case of automation or Instrument/Effect rack structure.
It is really a work of passion, of course you can hear it in the song but seeing it for me kind of opens up another "dimension" of this passion.

I really know what you mean. In the past I spent a lot of time searching for my favourite instruments and effects too. Assembling the drumset that I used in this song took me half a year. All this was triggered by specific sounds I wanted to use in a song. For example the snare should sound "Ringo-ish". (Listen to "I am the walrus" and you know what I mean.) During that I learned a lot about DAW, about MuLab, about instruments. And I got (and get) a lot of help here in this community. That's invaluable.tatanka wrote:Maybe I should spent more from the spare time on the composition window then chasing the newest, best, biggest VST Instrument, Effect, DAW (or reading > 200 sites why camel has closed......)
Although I'm still at the beginning ...
Are you going to publish your creations?

Hello JR,
at the moment I dont even have any kind of account (like soundcloud or even dropbox for downloadlink) to publish and on the other hand (especially after your song
) I dont have anything that is kind of even in a "raw" stadium, only some ideas.
Still not definitely taken the decision for finally for "the" DAW. Last year I "finally" choose Tracktion (the upgrade offer was irresistible, 30 € for an upgrade from my old 2 to the brand new 5) cause I ever loved it and loved the one window kind of thing. But after playing around with Mulab Free for years now I just had to buy it. Was only for "fast tryout" of VST, ideas, etc. but now after your song.....decisions
So all my ideas at the moment are Tracktion 5 projects, but if you are interested (and I can figur out how to add a file to a post here in the forum, have not done that before) I can add some mp3 to a post, as I said, only ideas.
The "big" idea I am working on at the moment (and for the next years if passion beats time....) is kind of a "concept of songs" dealing with all the impressions I had on an Ireland trip at only one special place kind of decades ago. For that I am now trying to get an "working environment" (kind of template) together that should fit for all songs and all my working steps (mainly computer based midi composition tools and then arranging and rendering the clips in the DAW) so that this surfing around for new and new and new.....will stop. Thats for the plans (my job, my family etc. normally has other ones

P.S.: Apart from an constant feedback of the "guitar complex" I cant identify (it is no solo effect, I have tried out all) I could restore the whole song, so I could really look in detail how you did this song, thats really great, thanks again.
The drums are really great too, as an old blues-rocker (you know decades ago....) of course I love all that ludwig stuff (though at that times I was more the rolling-stones fraction
So, sleeping time at least....

Same decision here about 4 years ago. I was messing around with "Anvil", "lmms" etc. Now I'm here, really, really satisfied with MuLab, and I don't want to research for better features in other DAWs but focus on the music.tatanka wrote:... Not sure what you mean. Let me know if I can do anything.P.S.: Apart from an constant feedback of the "guitar complex" I cant identify (it is no solo effect, I have tried out all) ...

Before the song even starts playing their is a kind of loud "feedback" sound (really comparable with the one you get with your guitar in front of a guitar amp when you are coming too close), all the time there but not constant in loudness. When the song plays it is still present, but more in the background.
Must have something to do with the guitar effect rack but turning off the individual effects dont help. And turning off the whole effect racks of course kills the guitar sound in general. It is no big problem for just understanding how evrything works, just a little annoying after a while.

That must be the ghost of Jimi Hendrix ...
In fact I have no definitive idea. Please check:
In fact I have no definitive idea. Please check:
- Did you switch on all automation sub-tracks?
- Try to insert automation parts with zero values into the 3 sub-tracks at the beginning of the song to initialize the automated values.
- It could also be a problem with the sf2-player ("kxsf2"), that I used for the guitar. Try reloading the original session and save the configuration of kxsf2 into an fxp-file and reload this into your working session. Or try "sforzando" instead, which will also convert the sf2 into sfz
. (But this may result in other "effects".)

Seems to be a problem with the telephon/speech simulation racks/effects (calling home, as you said, Jimi calls
. So I just turned that off cause I dont really need it for learning. Soundfontplayer settings seem to be o.k..
