Hiccups in T5

I post in the hopes of some clues.
My problem:
while in 32b T5.4.2 on a 64b/win7/6G desktop, I'm recently experiencing that the audio continues, but the visual portion hangs up and the timeline that scrolls across the clip comes to a stop.
Sometimes during this event there are randomly blanked out tracks, or the whole visual scene of all 8 clips becomes blank at this time.
Nothing is responsive at this time. I can move the mouse pointer but it has no effect on any button/command during this random anomaly.
I have looked through the Tracktion log file and find nothing that looks like T is the problem, as I've compared an old entry's time logs against a later entry when I started having this problem.

I have searched the internets for help and came across a link to resplendence's latency monitor --> http://www.resplendence.com/latencymon <-- which I have run several times and have been in their forum and have googled seeking clues and I 'think' that some process in windows background is causing an interrupt which then shows up in Tracktion having these hiccups.
HDaudbus.sys and USBPORT.sys continue to show as an 'interrupt to process latency' red flag.
The hard page fault resolution is always red but have been informed from several online sources that this sorta normal.
I have been in control panel and have disabled several devices per some suggestions from online sources to no avail.
I have also un and re/installed T and believe it isn't at fault.
I also have T on my win8.1 laptop and it runs fine.
I'd be very thankful for any clues.

Sysinternal's ProcExp shows the % of CPU going to Interrupts. I know of a problem that could arise with XP to cause the interrupts share to go up. It was caused by frequent use of the Sleep mode and resulted in the access mode for the hard drives being changed from DMA to SIO, whatever that is. This could be rectified by uninstalling the hard drive(s) via the Device Manager and rebooting. The PC would then assume it was new software and search for - and find - the relevant drivers, and all would be well. However, the problem was specific to XP and IDE (aka ATA) drives, neither of which you probably have. On the other hand, if it's a new problem, this process might just reset something vital.

A further description:
Following the resplendence results about the USBPort.sys I went into ctrlpanel/devices/HID compliant devices and found 18!! entrys...WTF. No wonder Win spends time in USBPort.sys
I have a USB mouse and a Kensington track ball, both corded, and a wireless HP keyboard as input devices that are shown in their own 'tree', separately, in ctrl panel/devices and they have up to date drivers.
In the HID 'tree' I disabled them one at a time as a test. Mouse and ball quit working when I dissed 2 of the 18. Then went back up and un-installed all of the dissed ones that had no effect thinking an AHA moment...gotcha
BUT, before I could back out of ctrl panel the complete list re-populated itself.
Now what?
I'm off to google again when I get back from my honeydoes...
I'd be very thankful for any clues.

Shot in the dark for you to try.

In Device Manager, expand the USB devices. Choose menu option View and click on Show Hidden Devices. If any extras show up on the USB list, possibly in grey letters instead of black, uninstall them.

This commonly happens if users remove USB sticks, etc, without doing the usual eject thing. But there may be other reasons.

Let us know if there were any hidden ones.
