Hi Urs, first of all - great work! Not only this one, but also satin, diva and presswerk, which I own and have used inseveral records that I have mixed. Thanks!

Here are some Ideas that I came across, when testing Hive for using it in a live show setup:

PRESETS
- when saving a preset to an existing one in the Midi-Programs, it should overwrite it and be routed to the same Program Change as before.
- Presets in the Midi-Program-Section should have numbers and be drag and dropable to certain numbers.

ARP + STEPSEQ
- CLOCK/TIMEBASE: I love, that the sync mode is actually a quantized sync mode. Nevertheless, a possibility to change that would be nice
- SEQUENCER: a 4th line for gate time would be nice. from 0-100%.
- SEQUENCER: a 'doubler' for each step would be nice, repeating the step 2 times in double speed (+ swing amount for the first).
- SEQUENCER: When there is no sync input, the SEQ starts at step1 each time you press a new key after releasing all. When a sync is present, it jumps to the next step, when you do that. A behaviour changer for that would be nice.

MM1+2
- I didn't find, where to specify the 'constant' (and others) in the via field.

MIDI LEARN
- A way of specifing or editing the learned controllers would be nice, like mapping input 0-127 to a filter range of 30-80 or so.

I know that's a lot of things and in the end it's up to you anyway… but I think there could be some interesting additions especially for using hive in a live setup.

Cheers, thanks,
Klaus

Hi,

Just a quick note:

A new version of Hive is ready for download for Mac and Win, Linux to follow (link form first post):

http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 1&t=427734

We've extended the expiration date because, hehe, I haven't managed to finish it between x-mas and my holidays. Hence it'll work till end of March.

Cheers,

- Urs

quick presetplaying here!

Aiyn
- please please!!!!!!! do 1-2 presetpacks only with psytrance stuff! varying with astral projection, hallucinogen, juno reactor stuff and a bit full on maybe.

Howard
- always great patches but i dont like the naming at all, you always dunno what a patch is, a bass? a pad? i think the HS before each patch doesnt need to be cause when you click on your name you know it's your patch ;).

the rest i didnt check much yet, pardon me ;).

i still think it's a pain in the ass to have the drop down menus..... i just hate them, it hinders workflow so much!

i will try to make some HARSH industrial sounds, anyone wanna join? :D

Hey Thanks for the update Urs. Really having fun with this.

On another note. Is it possible for those of us doing sounds for Hive, to keep updating and adding presets, until just before the actual version launch?
I've made a lot more and refined some of the older ones, after learning more about how Hive works, and want to add them before the launch. Maybe others do to.
Thanks again for another great synth.

FYI the bunch of presets is a PREVIEW. Later versions will be categorized, this problem will disappear and the signatures (e.g. 'HS') will suddenly make sense :-)

After testing out those great presets I would dare to say that Hive indeed could replace Sylenth... :)

Presets are AMAZING! Seriously well done everyone, a limited feature set would normally make you think of a limited scope for sounds, but the key is a truly rich and deep sound which is clearly what we have here and is evidenced by the amazing work.

Howards presets in particular make me feel very humbled!

I have no idea why, but I was totally sucked into Psy when using HIVE! I held back on making too many psy sounds but In fact I need to go all out with it! HIVE just really seems to lend itself to it.

Now if it had as many waveforms as presets, I'd be dancing around the Paypal button...

The manual suggests a scope has been decided for the first hexagon tab. Subject to change of course.

Cannot agree more. The more I tinker with Hive the larger the vista becomes. It is a lush, glorious little (big) powerhouse

edit: the matrix on/off buttons are very useful.

If the release is now veering towards sometime in April I will definitely have an opportunity to pick it up while the discount is still on. Cool! Very fun to program a synth like this.
