Well now this is exciting. Was able to browse threads at... a location from which I could not post, ha ha.... but been unable to reply all day, so I just had to watch this all unfold as a frickin lurker.
Anyway I'm in. Pretty much knew I would be. Really excited about the Lock feature, and the audio file import.
Wonder if the granular engine will allow the same kind of position / timesynch one could do in Alchemy (for loops and stuff), to get things all tempo matched.

FYI - If you own Omnisphere, Trillian and StylusRMX, you're upgrade price is $199
I haven't even gone thru the all the v1 presets and now this.
Since you can use your own audio files, I'll look at using the audio files from Alchemy.

Not my kind of stuff, sorry. The guy in the video also has terribly insincere smile
However, modulating arpeggiator note length is a nice feature other synths are missing.
.
Otherwise, it's a wide variety of different functions and engines byundled in one synth, but each of them is only scratching the surface. Better get separate dedicated plugin for different kinds of tasks for that price.

Are you talking about Eric? I didn't pick up on any insincerity at all. I saw a man who, besides losing weight, was happy to be finally showing the world that his company was not dead, and that he could finally show off his new baby.DJ Warmonger wrote:Not my kind of stuff, sorry. I deliberately don't smile, because whenever I do people always assume I am up to something (evil).
My main tools: Kontakt, Omnisphere, Samplemodeling + Audio Modeling. Unify = godsend. Tari's libraries also rock.

I know this will be met with hostility but that's frankly overpriced by today's standards. Even $299 would be high but at least it would be more in line with the current market.
Maybe if you are getting it for EDM its not worth $500.
It may be "overpriced", but many people are paying it. You charge what gives you the most profit. Sure some won't buy it because of this price. But look, 10 people buy it for $500 = $5000. 15 people buy it for $300 = $4500. Not to mention less people to offer support for and even higher profit margins because of this.

It really helps that it has sample import ,and an interesting looking granular synth engine. These two facts are helping me relax about the loss of Alchemy for sure!! And probably not just temporarily. Omnisphere is pretty effing deep - I foresee alot of people getting busy making crazy Omni patches once April 30th rolls around!! I also foresee Omni patch libraries becoming a whole cottage industry now.

Solid point, this is. Definitely not a piece of the equation I've thought of before but you could easily see how this would effect the math. I'm sure there are a *few* people down at Spectrasonics EQ that are handy with a calculator.ATS wrote:Not to mention less people to offer support for and even higher profit margins because of this.
I myself am happy to pay a premium because they are clearly pouring resources into making it a premium piece of software. I, for one, am VERY happy about with where they went with it!!

For me, Alchemy is not lost, only its support. I'm glad it's working as it does before that disappeared.jlanthier wrote:It really helps that it has sample import ,and an interesting looking granular synth engine. The new granular algorithm definitely puts Omni back on the radar, but Alchemy still has a character different from Omni. And I see a few that own both saying they're keeping it that way.
It will be nice to see what sound developers jump on this though.
And BTW, Eric does look healthy and sincere in his pitch.
