not sure what you mean exactly

OK - please explain how I can do the following

I am working around bar 12 say - and then I want to start working around bar 76 - I zoom out and I click the time line AND hold the mouse cursor at bar 76 - now I want to zoom in again to work there

at the moment as I zoom back in the cursor makes it's way back to the left again

I press play and it starts from bar 76 - but I'm still only seeing an earlier section

As i wrote: Zooming is focused on the mouse cursor, so you even don't have to click the time bar, just move the mouse to bar 76 and zoom in using the mouse wheel.

just found that it works more or less correctly if I use the mouse wheel to zoom - but not if I use the new keyboard commands

What's "less" correct in this case?
but not if I use the new keyboard commands
It focuses on the center of the view. That works correctly. Though i could understand if users would request that it would be better to focus on the play cursor in this case (=when using zoom via a key shortcut) IF the play cursor is visible. (otherwise it would lead to an unexpected scroll too)

It works as expected - but I can still scroll away and not see the cursor

well I would much prefer the zoom to focus on the play cursor - but even when the mouse cursor is where you want it the keyboard zoom in ignores it

now I'm looking for a way to move/nudge a part by ticks or snap setting - can't seem to find any reference to this

anybody??

The grid = snap is defined in the bottom-right of the composer. See http://www.mutools.com/info/docs/mulab/composer.html

yep - is there a keyboard shortcut to nudge the part?

  1. Menu "Mulab"
  2. Then "Manage shorcuts"
  3. Then button "Add"
  4. Then click in the field "Function"
  5. (all the "shortcutable" functions are listed here)
  6. Then click "Choose grid" in the list
  7. Then click in the field "Shortcut"
  8. Then click a shortcut not yet used (myself I have chosen Ctrl+Alt+G)
  9. Then click "OK"
  10. Then click "Done".

Now test it:
  1. Open a composition
  2. Do your shortcut: you can see a little menu appear where you can select your new grid resolution.

Yes thanks - but I'm looking for a keyboard function actually nudge a selected part - in energy xt it's Ctrl + Left/Right arrow
If the grid is on it nudges by the grid setting - if not it nudges by a tiny tick (useful for lining things up accurately)

Kind of "Quantize" function for parts, right? No it's not yet there as a context function, and thus not yet shortcuttable, only when dragging a part with the mouse.

Post

actually no not exactly - it's just a way of moving a part precisely

eg: if you set the snap to beats - control+left or right arrow moves the part a beat at a time

also if you set the snap at say 1/128th it's handy if lining up 2 tracks say - or getting tracks to sit nicely

if you leave snap off it moves the part by a tiny (sample?) amount - also can be very useful

it's much better than using the mouse (which I hate as you may have gathered) - because you don't have to zoom in to do it

In a similar way I find the midi editing shortcuts much easier on energy XT (sorry)

ctrl+left/right moves a note/event - alt+left/right increases/decreases velocity

also - I've just started another post re another problem I'm having - sorry to take up your time
