Hi,
I'm sure this must have happened to most of you: your new masterpiece is 90% finished and pretty complicated, with loads of tracks, both audio and midi, complicated tempo changes etc.pp. And now you decide that, e.g., bars 41-44 should be dropped because that was just one repetition too many.
Is there any way in Tracktion to do this? If so, please tell me, for I haven't found it. The only way I know would be to select all clips in all tracks on the right side of my drop area and to pull them to the left - which will create all kinds of problems because this will not also move my tempo and rhythm changes...
Oh, and while I'm at it: It would also be most useful to be able to insert, e.g., 4 bars at bar #20. I think both are pretty much everyday's tasks when working with a sequencer.
So, does anybody know how to do this with Tracktion? If not, then this will become my No.1 most wished feature for V2, even before the full-featured piano roll including channel aftertouch edit capabilitiy etc. But I sure hope Tracktion can already do it and I just didn't find out how...
Regards,
malamut

commands are for mac, pc may be slightly different...
zoom track to find edit point - z
select all tracks - command/a then again - command/a
set marker - command/number key (example 7)
cut - "/"
zoom out all tracks- f6, f8
repeat zoom, select, cut at end of section to be deleted
zoom out
lasso all tracks in section to be deleted - option/drag
delete section
lasso all tracks after deleted section
move cursor to marker 7 (number 7 key)
in the bottom center box, select "move clip"
from the submenu, select "move start of selected clips to cursor position"
there may be a keyboard shortcut that does the job with a few less commands but I can't remember it.

while james proposes a decent solution, the shorter answer is no ;)
I mentioned this ages ago (and I'm sure somebody did before me) but it never got followed up on. James solution works, but it will still 'break' when there are tempo/time signature changes involved. Not to mention all the automation data
post it over on the mackie forum and see what response you get.

Argh... that would be why people still need Cubase, etc...

Thanks to everyone for their help!
@PT: you forgot the smiley, right?
@james: thanks for the time you spent on trying to help me, but your solution misses my main problem (the tempo & rhythm changes), and glurgle gave an important additional point (automation).
@glurgle: thank you for showing me that I'm not alone.
I tried to post it to the mackie forum but it seems that I don't have the necessary permissions - and mackie doesn't tell me how to get them.
Do I have to email all the administrators, or will they give me the permission automatically after a few years?
I hope Jules will agree with us that this is important... my temporary solution is to just not delete those four bars for now.

Ok, I was finally able to post this in the Mackie forum and got an official reply saying that Mackie's aware of the fact that this is a common feature request for V2.
Since Mackie won't say anything definite about which features will finally be in V2, this is probably as encouraging as it gets.
So here's another reason to look forward to V2 (and to buy V1 for those who don't yet have it, for that will get you V2 cheaper
).
