Did you dl this from Martin's (google) site, or the direct link above / FB?
Only the former is SE (and that was only for the GUI).
None of the really dumb people I knew when I was young are young any more.

The first one I downloaded from his site. The 2nd one (the recent update) I downloaded from FB.

You have renewed my faith in Synthedit VST design.
Please, keep in mind that the new version is purely C++ (no SynthEdit).
But that said, there should be no big difference in sound between the new and the old SE version. The main reason I moved towards a native plugin was Mac and 64 bit compatibility (which now also seems in reach for SE...).

Also, as mentioned before, the sound engine of the Synthedit was a C++ coded custom module.

Cheers,
Martin

Congratulations on the latest release!

Hard to believe it's been four years since you first announced it.

Many thanks.

Latest beta from FB.
Looks like a denormal problem in 32 bit version: CPU usage is good when playing, eats up a whole core when not playing.

[edit]
Same thing in 64 bit version.

Sorry for the slow progress. I am doing this only in between my real job and family.

Which host are you using, and which processor do you have?
For me (reaper on Win7, Intel i7 2600) it takes a few percent on one core.

Cheers,
Martin

Thanks for the update!

First look:
* MIDI Learn "Default" (clean) button
* coloured program edit/write indicator in the "LCD Display" is back
* Filter noise control
* Save (export) sysex bank!
* GUI: darker background, larger button font, parameters lines
...
Very good, Martin  :tu:
It`s not a bug... it`s a feature!

I found an old version of it from 2011 in my plugin folder... :o

But the new version sounds much better, much less aliasing than default Synthedit oscillators!

This synth has a nice 80ies "oldschool" flavor!

That has nothing to do with SynthEdit, though. The old SynthEdit version did not use the standard SE oscillators, and had a custom antialias filter.

In fact, the new version uses the same code for the oscillators, and I only changed the code for the anti alias filters in the current version.

So it's not the oscillators that sound better but the filters? Anyway, I hear slightly less phasing than in other Synthedit synths! :tu:

BTW, my impression is that the default oscillators in Synthmaker synths sound much worse (with more phase cancellations) than in Synthedit synths...

Yes it takes few percent when playing.
The problem starts when the synth is not producing any sound.
REAPER, Win 7 too.
