In addition to creating great .png files for KS, don't forget it's own sound reactive video capabilities and sound generation too

Thanks. I don't know if it will be the same deal but I just wrote to Edward and he said he will be sending out a special deal to all registered Metasynth users in the next few weeks.Sampleconstruct wrote:Intro offer for version 6: 199 USDlnikj wrote:Is there a deal on Artmatic only somewhere like the Metasynth ones that pop up (combined with Artmatic)?

Well, I will miss that deal as I will already have created 23 gazillion images with it thus compensating for the deal I missedlnikj wrote:Thanks. It's probably the same deal. Those bundle deals that come out with Metasynth always have it as an extra $200.Sampleconstruct wrote:Well, I will miss that deal as I will already have created 23 gazillion images with it thus compensating for the deal I missedlnikj wrote:Thanks. Looks like many more brain synapses will be generated inside my head after installing ArtMatic, it's great to encounter something where you have absolutely no idea where to start but to read the FM. I did demo it some years ago but never got into it, now is the time to do so.

Wow, seems like a deep and brilliant program indeed!Sampleconstruct wrote:Looks like many more brain synapses will be generated inside my head after installing ArtMatic, it's great to encounter something where you have absolutely no idea where to start but to read the FM. I had a look at Fission - it might be a demo restriction but I couldn't see a way to export as a 64-bit wav as Kaleidoscope needs? Nice little app though.TwoToneshuzz wrote:You are welcome. I also use Fission to do my quick and dirty audio editing. I think recently it's been implemented to edit mono files extracted from stereo. Which was useful for making your own tun files as Simon just described.. Only Fission costs pennies compared to Wavelab..jtenney wrote:+1 on the possibilities of Audio Hijack. I've used it the same way for a long time, just straight audio capture. Interesting thought, using it to substitute for a bounce, and being able to control parameters as I go in real time, rather than laying down automation. It would be very simple, there wouldn't have to be any hosting involved of KS involved, just straight capture and then open the file in an audio editor... It could also work for programs with quirks, like Crusher X, where you can't automate side chain changes for example... This is an eye-opener, thanks!
Audacity (free) can extract to mono and export at 64-bit.

So whats the trick to importing your own images? I save the image as the formats stated in the manual but I receive an error message when trying to load the image after importing it into Kaleidoscope. What tricks or tips have people been using to import their own material into Kaleidoscope?

I just converted some old images to 1024 x 1024 pixels, 24-bit PNG with no alpha layer, right clicked each file afterwards to check the properties actually said 1024 x 1024 pixels and 24-bit PNG, put them into a new folder under 2CAudio Resource Library\Image Library and the next time Kaleidoscope was restarted they where there. Supposedly if it says it's a 24-bit PNG image that in itself means it has no transparency layer, a 24-bit PNG file with a transparency layer equals a 32-bit PNG file (if I understood this correctly). Beware of cryptical and hidden options when saving your image(s). I used Gimp on Windows to convert the images one by one, a bit fiddly but it gave the results I wanted so I won't complain too much.tonkatodd wrote:So whats the trick to importing your own images? There is a series of videos online by some artist in London I think, basic but some good tips. Don't overlook the "random all" function for some good serendipity

Gimp worked great thanks for the tip. It looks like I was overlooking some export option or format in Photoshop. Gimp works a treat.V-GER wrote:I just converted some old images to 1024 x 1024 pixels, 24-bit PNG with no alpha layer, right clicked each file afterwards to check the properties actually said 1024 x 1024 pixels and 24-bit PNG, put them into a new folder under 2CAudio Resource Library\Image Library and the next time Kaleidoscope was restarted they where there.
