tell me this means you are about to release 'luftrum scuplture ambient'  :hyper: :hyper:

Arrh, sorry no. I just have an interest in the soundset since I also run Sounds for Synth, the place where Sculptor is on sale. So, just a bump. :)

gotcha :tu: ....have you ever thought of doing one for sculpture (do you even 'logic', bro ?? :D )

Anyone know if Sculpture has changed at all in the latest versions of Logic , or is it the same as its always been ?...

Post

The interface is the same, I doubt they changed anything in the engine

Great , thanks Adam .

It's a great synth. Seriously underrated IMO, that's why I made the pack, to explore it a bit, nothing sounds like Physical Modeling.

Can't do that with regular synthesis techniques. Some people think the sounds in the demo are acoustic samples.

i'm not sure that it is  i can't remember hearing/reading anything but praise for it. further to that, i have seen more than a couple of threads over the years in which non-logic users have tried to find it's equal :uhuhuh: :)

Maybe underrated is a wrong word. What I meant is that it's not widely used. Most of Logic users I know don't even open it (even synth oriented ones) Like they were afraid ;-)
Maybe it's because the programming is not as obvious as a subtractive synth, not much useful factory presets are given and preset packs are rare.

yeah, it's a shame that it gets easily overlooked, though artists like BT and Trifonic seem to use it often

it seems to reward time spent. i will probably take the macprovideo sculpture sound design course at some point.

Currently I'm refreshing some math (calculus) and physics I should theoreticaly remember from university (I'm a chemistry major). The plan for the future is to get involved with programming for DSP. Firt I'm going to go through Andy Farnell's - Designing Sound book (as I already have some Pure Data knowledge) and later maybe C++ and writimg plugins (but that's just a plan). I was looking at Physical Modeling, because there are not many synths of this kind (I would like a Modular PhySynth environment, anyone knows any?), but as I said, all in the future :-)

Sounds like a plan, I'm slowly working through Farnell's book.

For Modular Physical Modeling there's:
- AAS Tassman 4 - hasn't had a real update in ages, it's painful to make things from scratch in the Builder, but can sound great
- NI Reaktor - has Modal Oscillator bank, Prism, and a bunch of user-built instruments; I especially like Chet Singer's creations
- u-he Zebra - semi-modular, people rave about its comb filter for PM sounds

Post

Thanx :-)

I'll look into those, but the plan is to get a 'real understanding' how this works from scratch (starting with the physics). Maybe write a simple instrument myself first in PD.

I'll PM You when I get into Farnell's book, maybe we can exchange some insights. How do You like the book so far?
