I tried for long ime to make head and tails of the SynthEdit created fxb files, but I am lost there.

However, I do have an experimental Synthedit pg8x version (1.04) which can does send the patch Sysex when selecting a patch. When daisy-chaining this with the new version, you can transfer the patches, albeit one by one only. A bit time consuming, but still better then reprogramming them by hand.

Here is a link to the file:

You need to make sure that the sysex format is JX8P, and as far as I remember, after selecting a patch, you need to press the out of place gray button.

Let me know how you get on.

But, one warning: I am still deciding whether the number of voices should be part of each patch, or a global setting. Hence the file format of the new version might still change.

Before installing an updated version, it is advisable to export all banks as sysex, as these are guaranteed to work in future versions (as they should on the hardware).

Cheers,
Martin

Makes a lot more sense for it to be a per-patch setting. Changing the number of voices changes how monophonic unison sounds, so... Best leave it as per-patch setting.

True, that.

Me too. :D

Obviously theres still a lot to be done (and i HATE those crummy photoshop fonts so im not sure if ill keep those) but its coming along nicely and (hopefully) shouldnt take too long to finish...

Looks nice.

That's looks fantastic. Looking forward to seeing how it evolves.

It evolved a little.

The printings are all in place now, but thats only for better orientation, meaning they will probably be changed. (And made a little brighter.)

Yeah, printings should be a bit bigger and bold (especially section labels!). Brighter would also help! SET and OPT buttons should be GLOBAL and MISC.

But otherwise it's a splendid design! Exactly what this plugin needs!

Looks very promising!

If it were easy, anybody could do it!

Well, i am working after a picture of the real thing, and the section labels are actually that small relative to the size of the sliders.

Hm, indeed. But they are bold!

This may sound OT, but please bear with me:

Our washing machine where I live have two similar round buttons next to each other, one for starting the washing cycle, the other one for opening the hatch.

I dont know how many times I've pushed the START button instead of unlocking the hatch after a finished cycle…

Of course they're marked with their respective function, but in a similar way and using the same black colour on grey.

If I may make a suggestion, how about using different colours, either for the text or for the actual buttons, to clearly distinguish between the LOAD and SAVE buttons? Right now, they both have green text on a grey button and I know that in a rush, I will hit the wrong one.

Yeah, they sure are.

And it pees me off to no end that i cant even get non-bold fonts in that size that dont look like crap.

(The small ones i mean.)

The only thing that would help here was a larger fontsize, but then we have the problem of not enough room again, so everything would have to be abbreviated.

It remains a dilemma, unless Martin decides to make the whole UI a good chunk larger. In that case everything could be made to proper scale and look good at the same time. But im sure he has much more important things to take care of right now, so its not something id expect to happen anytime soon.
