I tried for long ime to make head and tails of the SynthEdit created fxb files, but I am lost there.Ichad.c wrote: Btw, did you ever get the 'exporting patches' form old to new version thing sorted? (I'm on the SE usergroup too btw). That seems like a real pita.
However, I do have an experimental Synthedit pg8x version (1.04) which can does send the patch Sysex when selecting a patch. When daisy-chaining this with the new version, you can transfer the patches, albeit one by one only. A bit time consuming, but still better then reprogramming them by hand.
Here is a link to the file:

You need to make sure that the sysex format is JX8P, and as far as I remember, after selecting a patch, you need to press the out of place gray button.
Let me know how you get on.
But, one warning: I am still deciding whether the number of voices should be part of each patch, or a global setting. Hence the file format of the new version might still change.
Before installing an updated version, it is advisable to export all banks as sysex, as these are guaranteed to work in future versions (as they should on the hardware).
Cheers,
Martin
