I have it and it is fun to play around with. But I must say that all this cult/fanboi vs doubter/basher name calling is getting a little tedious.
I do get the questions regarding it's perceived value.
I do get the questions about the soundsets and such.
And I do get the questions about the upgrade costs.

this is one of those rare spots on planet earth where people are actually comfortable with prices
and fight those who think otherwise. i remember that normality was the other way around.
i too am gonna buy the upgrade although it's quite an effort.
what drives me nuts is other people's audacity to say it's not a high price.

my point was that for someone so opposed to name-calling, you had no issue with using the words puerile, playground, kiddie and idiot in response to my postnoiseboyuk wrote: El-bo, it's always particularly fun to follow kiddie kiddie name calling and misrepresenting others' views with a catch all "lighten up". But you carry on, it does appear to be almost a full time job for you to rag against people who express different views to you, either individually or en masse (classic intelligent debating technique - brand those who like something you don't as cult members collectively, and fanboys individually). Well, who am I to deny others' fun?.
here's the thing - i have never used the 'cult' or 'fanboi' thing before, but i do find that your inability to let other's have their opinions in these threads (and i really only ever see it in defense of spectrasonics), without you jumping in two-footed, ready with cut-and-paste feature lists, to show how they can't possibly have the opinion they do. in this case i used it mainly 'cause i thought it a great play on your name, all things considered
i don't have a problem with you sharing a different opinion, why would i ?? you have made a very clear case, time and again, why the spectrasonics suite is ideal for you. i do have an issue that you can't see that other's might not judge it in the same way, and that you refer others to older posts in a way which seems to try to shut them down

It makes no sense to call people puerile and such at the very same time you complain about someone calling you a fanboi...
Do unto others as you would have others do to you.
Simple, n'est pas?

You are all banished to the Omnisphere debate club... forever

Well, to continue the playground analogy, "you started it"', Mr El-bo. When I'm at other forums, people don't use - yes - puerile terms like "fanboi" to people who like a product or company because they find their products consistently good. It's not a grown up response, imo.
And apologies I've occasionally cut and pasted the features that have value to me (I edited out the less important), it seemed a better use of time than to type them out manually by hand. Funny what upsets people. Since you've clearly read my detailed reasons as to why I like Omnisphere, the specifics of why I use it more than others in a professional capacity for broadcast work, I fail to see how this makes me a cult member, who slavishly follows the company mindlessly. Am I deluded in my reasoning? Is Omni not really as useful to me and my clients as I've thought all this time? Have you countered my specific reasoning as to its worth for me to demonstrate why my views are cult-like? If you did, apologies as I do appear to have missed it.
Anyway, this fun little drama between us has run its course, the only thing more tedious in these threads than repeating the same points is two people bickering across 16 pages. I shall hereby promise to be a good boy and shan't respond to further public El-bo provocation (I promise, Scouts honour), but I'll still follow the thread as I've repeatedly said - there's lots of interesting stuff to discuss. For a while there a couple of pages ago it was good stuff - I seem to remember arguing that if you need to multisample, although Omni 2 can sort of do it it wouldn't be the best tool for the job - let's see if we can all behave like adults and carry on less petulantly.

Bye Fellas!
I, myself, have been a strong critic of Omni. I'm of the "It's an over-priced, over-glorified ROMPLER School."
I would be glad to give Omni 2 a full and unbiased opportunity to change my mind; however, they do not see fit to release a decent demo version to prove its quality to me. Store versions that I have seen are no way and no place to truly try out such a feature-rich piece of software.
Until something is done to change this current situation, I'm very happy to pass on Omni 1 or 2 and use the products I've tried, bought and actually paid a very fair price to own.
I don't buy anything I can't try has been one of the most basic rules of the music business since wood flutes and skin drums -- Omni, get with the program.

I don't think outerspace can sound as big as innserspace as there is too little GAS there for sound waves to travelBBFG# wrote:Not nearly as big as outerspace?Voice303 wrote: If innerspace is indeed a reverb I wonder how big it can sound?

also this is a great way to make omni sit in the mix much much better. http://www.brainworx-music.de/en/plugin ... answeep_v2
what it does is filter out all the unwanted heaviness and allows much more sounds to be used at the same time. as you may or may not know omnis patches are often very VERY overpowering. give it a try. your mix will thank you.

I considered Omni 1 long ago and then decided to pass because I couldn't use my own samples and I figured I'd be better off getting a dedicated synth like Zebra for the other usual synthesis avenues. Omni 2 has really piqued my interest though. I've also discovered Kaivo recently, and am wondering which one I should go for. I am fully aware of the vast differences between Omnisphere and Kaivo, but where they overlap is where my interest lies - granular synthesis. Kaivo sounds so organic and often extremely odd, yet almost tangible, all three of those highly desirable qualities for me. You can also use multi-channel samples. I'm still taming this wild beast and most of the time the bloody animal just bolts loose from the stable into loopy lala-land. Which can be great, but ultimately I need to try and fit these manglings into mixes.
Just wondering if Omnisphere could be a better alternative when I'm aiming for organic unreal acoustic instruments, even though it would cost me around £250 instead of around £80 for Kaivo...
Omnisphere's rare sampled instruments could come in useful as well.
I guess going to a store and demoing it is the best course of action for now.
