I recorded a song with no metronome. I was recording it on a camera for a Youtube video. Now I would like to polish it a little and add pitch correction and some backing tracks to the guitar and vocal arrangement. I spent a few hours with the tempo map feature of Tracktion 5 adding a couple of hundred little tempo fluctuations in order to get everything to line up with bars, beats and measures. So far so good.
Now, when I try to add Melodyne Edit 2 to the vocal, the timing goes way off. I transfer the track, but when I play it back, the timing slows way down and nothing lines up anymore. My guess is that the transfer is a midi track somewhere that simply can't keep track of all the little tempo changes. Anyone have any ideas? Up to now, I've done simple stuff tempo wise. My last piece was one tempo but with a little slowdown at the end. Melodyne followed this perfectly and even let me add the ritard to the audio that was recorded at a single tempo. Very cool. OK, deleting the tempo map lets me continue working. A shame since I spent so much time on it, and it would really help when it comes to adding the other instruments. None the less, this does seem to be a bug that should be squashed.
