The 2.3 will be released as soon as possible, it still need some work. I estimate it will be ready at the ending of Feb. or starting or March. As always, it will be a free update.

I don't have any idea about Pop music :help: , let me know a chord progression and tell me a preset, then I will show you how it sounds in Nora 2.3 with this new effect enabled.

Also, once it's finished I will show you how easy I made the short sequence of the teaser with a video. ;)

Cmaj7 Amin7 Dmin7 G11 (or F chord with G in Bass) - 4 bars
Variation could occur on bar 1 of next round of 4 bars.
Preset could be grand or electric piano or horn section.
Chord progression could vary.
It's probably not necessary for me if you put this together; I will get update anyway and can do it myself; I was just wondering what it would sound like with another style of music, but I think I can get the idea without your creating an example.

I really appreciate you doing that. I think I'm not understanding the full power of Nora, so it would be good to see it in use. Like I said in a previous post, I'm used to using Cthulhu for my arp .. I like what I've seen of Nora so far, but can't quite seem to talk myself in to buying it. Maybe your video will do the trick.

Post

I use both. Both have their unique strengths. I haven't really gotten into Cthulhu's arp yet; I mostly use it for chord ideas since it has such a wealth of chord presets by Bach and other composers/genres. I'm also still learning both, but both together is great, plus you can learn more about music theory just by using them. I don't want to divert this thread by going into a comparison in depth; that could be done elsewhere if needed, I think.

Well, I'm not trying to trick anyone to purchase Nora. I prefer an honest marketing model and grateful clients. For me Nora is the perfect tool and I cannot live without it because I designed it for my own needs (Of course, I've added content that's irrelevant for me, but important for some users that requested them). That's the reason I'm not the best person to advice Nora to you, because your needs could be different.

Anyway, we will start the creative series of videos in our Youtube channel in this month so you will be able to see what you can do with it and judge for yourself if it worths for you :tu:

Thanks heaps for the email reply. I'll certainly take you up on that alternative. Thumbs up for the great support too. :tu:

Sorry if I may have overlooked it in that long thread, but I'm wondering what is it about the Diablo mod introduced in 2.20.

How do I enable it and is it a GUI mod only or does it also have different functionality ?

Post

Options->Load Mod...

Then Nora will open an OS file chooser in the default Nora Mod folder, then pick the Diablo mod. You can always go to default with Options->Load default mod.

Mods do not alter the funcionality of Nora, only it GUI.

Thanks for the info.

+1; I didn't realize I had it already and what it did; I guess mod is synonymous to skin..

Post

i really prefer the diablo mod(skin) thanks for this!

question: will v2.3 show the midi channel in each track of the playlist and allow changing it there? would be handy.
"..What is simple, is simply seen.."

Agreed,
Cthulhu does have that nice feature to pass a midi file full of chords and record them virtually instantly :)
I have great respect for Xfer but the Cthulhu Arp imo isn't as refined as Nora's, visually its harder for me to see what an Arp is doing whereas with Nora its crystal clear, I suppose that's due to Nora's use of a familiar piano roll to display the Arps on.?
Also Nora pushes things much deeper with the randomizer, I think Nora is worth the price just for that. :)
The thing is with Nora it has a lot of features that aren't immediately obvious until you stumble upon them or bother to read the manual. lol
Both Cthulhu and Nora have much utility and are very good Arps.

Not to mention that "Nora" rolls a lot easier off the tongue than "Cthulhu". ;-)

If it were easy, anybody could do it!

I was trying to learn Nora without the manual last night. I'm afraid I'm going to have to read it unless someone made a video showing step by step process. I need to get my head around how the patterns, tracks, and playlist all work together. RTM

Unfortunately no. But don't worry, it will be in the next patch, you won't have to wait too much, I promise ;)
