Audio question to which there is probably a very simple answer

So basically, if I'm recording an audio track, how can I ensure that I hear whatever plugins i've attached to it? once i've recorded it and it's an audio clip, no problem, I hear it perfectly, but it seems to just ignore everything i've assigned to that track otherwise. even arming the track which I'd expect to to trigger them, doesn't. There's a 'live input monitoring' radio button, which I would assume have the same affect as bypassing the effects, but in this case, it's not switched on, so I'd expect to hear something.

This is V6.

Cheers!

To hear the effects or instruments live you need 'Live input monitoring' turned on. At the same time you need to have any direct monitoring from your audio interface turned off. This setup is required if you are using a virtual guitar amp plugin or a virtual instrument. You will get some latency delay when using live input monitoring, so you might need to tweak the audio buffer size down.

And if you don' t want to record on the track while having live input monitoring switched on and record enabled, click on the input to the track and select "Don't make recordings from this device" from the Record Mode drop-down box in the input properties tab at the bottom.

I wish there was a way to select this without having to open the input properties, like there is e.g. in Reaper.

Cheers all. I saw the 'monitoring' thing and thought it would have been the other way around! TBH, I would have thought the default was' hear how you want it, with plugins' and then a switch to bypass if you want ala ableton Live, but good to hear it works!
