No, synth x,y,z has more features, PWM, is 64bit and has more modulation options.

Well you see, that's just it. I haven't heard anything from Sylenth1 that made me go "I gotta get this synth." Again, it sounds fine. Of course I'm not really super picky about synths as evidenced by my collection and criteria. But it just doesn't blow me away enough to shell out that kind of money for it.

Now, if they ever have a sale, we'll see.

And they barely do, so we are back in fun circle again

Okay, here is a perfect example of what I'm talking about and why I don't feel Sylenth1 s worth $158.

There is another thread discussing Hybrid 3. I never heard of this synth before. it's not on any top 50 lists of synths that I know of.

Anyway, I went to the site to check it out. I saw a column of some demo sounds so I played a few.

OMFG...what a big, warm, fat, lush sound. And it's a dance synth just like Sylenth1 , so you can't say it doesn't do what Sylenth1 is known to do. The sounds are amazing. IMO, much better than Sylenth1. Certainly much warmer.

Guess what?

It sells for $149.99. It's cheaper than Sylenth1 after the Euro to Dollar conversion.

So if I'm going to spend $150 on a dance synth, it's going to Hybrid 3 over Sylenth1 without even batting an eyelash. It isn't even close IMO.

That is why I can't see spending that kind of money on Sylenth1. And as the years go by, $150 is going to get you even more.

Wow, really? Is there a demo for Hybrid 3?

Instead, wait of a deal on a single product from this company. I bought Loom for 50$, than I upgrade to the Air Instrument Expansion Pack, which includes Hybrid 3 and 6 other quality products for only 129$! Hard to beat!

That would be great except Loom also costs $150 right now. Heck, might as well just get the whole pack for $300.

Or even better, I just found this, you can use both of these deals:

Hybrid 3 does wavetable stuff, it is not unlike Dune 2. So, not really a fair comparison since S1 doesn't do wavetables...

I would like to have their Velvet Rhodes emulation, sounds very authentic judging from the audio on their site. But I am not convinced of that company.

Why is it not a fair comparison?

Does it not do the kind of sounds and fit the genre that Sylenth1 targets? Is it not a synth that would be an option for people who want to do the genre of music that Sylenth1 targets? if so, who cares how the sounds are made? I don't look at a synth, if I'm looking for sounds to use for a specific genre and say "Well, it sounds like it would be great for EDM or whatever, but I'm not getting it because it has or doesn't have X synthesis." That's absurd. I buy a synth because it meets my needs as a sound creation device.

So given that Hybrid 3 can do all the sounds that Sylenth1 can do, sounds much richer, warmer, fatter and better, and on top of that costs $8 less, why on earth would you buy Sylenth1 over Hybrid 3?

I know I wouldn't.

And because of that, on my list of synthesizers to get in the near future, I have the following.

Bazille $129
Symtohm $113
Hybrid 3 $150

You'll notice that Sylenth1 is NOT on the list.

Why do you think that is?

I don't know how I can make this any clearer. For the quality of sound; for the type of sounds it produces; for the features in regard to modulation, etc., Sylenth1 is just not worth $158.

The company that makes that synth needs to take a look at its product, compare it to the rest of the marketplace as far as what's available and at what price and realize that its synth, for what it can do, is drastically overpriced.

There is no arguing that.

Why do you even think S1 targets EDM? It can be used in all kinds of genres, I use it for my R&B, Fusion, and Brazilian stuff, emulating mostly acoustic and electric instruments I can't play myself.

I would not know what to do with typical wavetable sounds, quite frankly. I am not a modern Jarre drowning my music in synths because the vocals are missing.

Hybrid 3 also installs the lovely Pace TPK Driver Virus..........

Or not...Let me explain. I got Hybrid 3 free with my Akai MPK 261 keyboard but never tried to install it until today. I swore I'd never infect my studio computer with the Pace Virus but out of boredom today I decided to take a chance and install Hybrid 3 anyway......or at least try. The installer has been stuck on "Processing Tpkdx64" for the last 15 minutes. I'm going in to cancel the installation now.........no such issues with Sylenth 1.

F*CK............. :x

I cancelled the installation and Hybrid 3 was not installed......but the f*cking PACE DRIVERS WERE.

Oh, okay. Was not aware of these PACE drivers. What are they? Why do you call them viruses? If they are, this is serious stuff. How can somebody intentionally sell you something with a virus? It doesn't make sense.

Please explain.

** EDIT ** From what I just found going quickly to the Internet, iLok uses Pace. Correct?

If so, what's the big deal? I have plenty of stuff on iLok and have no problems with it.

Again, please explain.

Post

Did you not read my post above ? I can't even see how to uninstall the Pace Virus and yes I call it a Virus because it does me no good and can possibly effect system performance.

I've put in a support ticket with Air since iLok "support" is closed for 3 days.

Another thing about the Hybrid 3 installation....it did not give the a choice where the plugin was (going to be) installed. Did not give me the option to NOT install the 32 bit version or the AAX version. Total crap. In short I won't ever have anything to do with Air Music or their plugins again even though I also got Vacuum Pro free with my purchase of the MPK261. I advise steering clear of Air Music..........
