You can't automate it as to now.rustman wrote:Just brainstorming- my system will change tunings with no glitches. It would be cool if we could somehow specify a series of tuning changes and string them together. That would allow us to put together "chord" progressions that loop. Maybe I can already do that with automation...haven't tried yet.

That's what I thought. I could group a select set of tuning files in a user folder and cycle between just those few realtime while recording audio. I don't think it would be too bad just recording separately and crossfading, as suggested earlier in the thread.Sampleconstruct wrote:You can't automate it as to now.rustman wrote:Just brainstorming- my system will change tunings with no glitches. I just bought filter forge. This should be perfect for me. I'll have fun with it AND make some images for KS.

I so want this Kaleidoscope, it's so unique, it's going to take awhile to find out how to use optimally but when that happens it's going to be awesome. Hey wait I was dreaming I already OWN this thing! How did that happen?!?!

As mentioned earlier, I had some free time at work this afternoon and whipped up a few images using Adobe After Effects. Obviously there wasn't a lot of planning that went into these, and I was just playing around. Feel free to use them if you want.
Now that I've had a little time to look through the Architecture library, I really start to understand the brilliance of KS. The sweeps, envelopes, checkerboards, etc. really unlock the power to move way beyond the ambient washes I was coming up with earlier. Its obvious that a lot of thought and time went into both the plugin and the libraries, and I'm looking forward to exploring further.

Incomplete list of my gear: 1/8" audio input jack.

No it comes as a standalone app too. The great thing about Filter Forge is it's like the Reaktor of procedural generators - it has a huge user library (bigger than Reaktor's actually) of filters created freely by users, some are excellent. (Probably worth waiting till it's back on sale though, they have occasional sales, when I bought it it was 70% discounted)deastman wrote:Yes, Filter Forge is another good one. That requires Photoshop, of course, but if you're going to be making images, you'll probably need that eventually anyway.

+1 Photoshop is not required.aMUSEd wrote:No it comes as a standalone app too. I have spent most of the last week experimenting with Filter Forge with the goal of creating musically useful images. There is quite a steep learning curve but the user library is your friend here if you can't figure out how to do something.
Its microscopic control over gradients and curves directly translates to the implementation of envelopes in KS, and it is easy to create images that use/blend only the 4 colours KS (and Metasynth) are interested in - red, green, yellow and black (though a good understanding of channels will really pay dividends here, especially if you want to work with photographs).
Creating a filter does not merely create images, it creates a collection of controls for the creation of images, so each filter can produce tens of thousands, through to millions, of variations, either randomly or under very precise pixel level control.
With regard to pricing - clear your cookies and cache and access the site via a proxy server or renew your DHCP lease. More often than not you will offered FF at 80% off (1 day remaining).

It was on sale last night for 80% off. I got it and the download of the online 10,000+ filters for about $100. It's gonna be perfect. Can't wait to get off work and d/l the online filter collection. Check it, it may still be on sale, although it "said" tonight only. Standalone works great and the photoshop integration worked flawlessly.

I purchased FilterForge because of this thread. Didn't see an easy way to download the 10,000+ filters. Is there a zip file link somewhere on their site? Thanks.rustman wrote:It was on sale last night for 80% off. I got it and the download of the online 10,000+ filters for about $100. It's gonna be perfect. Okay, thanks. Didn't see that. Remember to remove all the blue from your pics, KS can't read blue, it discriminates against blue, it's a blue-hater.deastman wrote:

I went back and purchased it separately once I'd realized what it was. There was a link in the confirmation email also. All of those filters are free, but you have to download them one at a time. I figured it was worth $29 to get them all in one pop and never need to go online for them again.wesleymayhem wrote:Okay, thanks. Didn't see that. Strange. My Digital River confirmation email didn't have any info on that. I just sent inquiry to Filter Forge.
