here's my place about to get snotted.

You near Rocky or HappyRock? ;)

Good luck up there. We've just got wet feet down here in the Brissy.
Brisneyland also. Explaining geography to a bunch of foreigners was just too hard. Bottom of Mt Glorious/Nebo.
I'm tired of being insane. I'm going outsane for some fresh air.

Those look (and I imagine sound) terrific!

8) I get the feeling we will cop it early in the morning.

I haven't demoed this prog yet.

Is it drastically different to Atmogen, Coagula or Audiopaint or based on the same principles, besides also processing audio streams?

I realise its a bit more comprehensive but Atmogen is pretty deep and Audiopaint allows importing of scales.

I've been using generative and procedural progs in a similar way with these but never designed anything intelligently, if you know what I mean.

Following up on my post/image yesterday, I have made two new filters based on the cloud of the AHDSR envelopes.

The first has the capability to set different channels for each stage of the envelopes. This, obviously, produces very abrupt panning changes as the envelopes of individual sounds switch stage.

The second has the capability to produce the same, but with smooth panning changes within the envelopes. This is the most complex filter I have built yet, with 107 nodes (and a staggering 10 to the power of 260 possible variations).

The amplitude of the envelope stages remains as before and is independent of the panning changes.

Thanks for the images deastman, some awesome stuff there. Have started up a collection of KVR images in my User folder!

And yes, with MIDI input tuning and parameter automation for the main parameters, I think Kaleidoscope would (will? ;) ;) ;)) become my favourite all-time plugin.

Thanks! :tu: :tu:

Don't worry, KS 1.0 is only the first step. I'm pretty confident we can make you decide that sooner or later. :)

I honestly believe KS is a historically important product for electronic music and sound-design... this is just the beginning of its journey... :o

I really need to sign up for SoundCloud so I can share some samples easier...
Nice! I'm working on some similar graphic ideas, too...

Looks like a same or very similar color paradigm of the "image synth room" of Metasynth ?

Post

I need to put this tablet down right now and get my music machine online so I can snag some of these images. I'll see if I have anything that's worth sharing.

Yes. Same color paradigm. Intentionally so that we can share resources between them... raw images use the same color channels: R and G.

But KS can remap these within its gui so that the color scheme is any of three possible choices. This is just a display preference. (most people prefer the Cyan color scheme). You should think of the image a simply a pair of two mono "modulation data arrays". One is used for the left channel, one is used for the right.

When designing images in third party apps you should use the red and the green channel for your content.

nice man!

This demonstrates purposeful image design pretty well... great use of color/stereo-panning...

subtle-differences between L and R (R and G) are good to try. Completely different things in L and R usually doesn't sound too natural as that does not usually happen in real-world musical signals. So this kind of "mostly the same, but not exactly" stuff between L and R can be great....

of course the "width" control in KS can manipulate this some, but it can not achieve things like your image where there are minor differences in the actual size/scaling/geometry of the the image between L and R.

...and these kind of differences are not obtainable through normal audio dsp techniques like delays, pitch shift, etc. hence they are interesting/novel...
