Now THAT was awesome . . . . . nice textures and movement . .Processing a field recording I recorded in a Seoul temple some years ago - a Puja performed by +/-70 nuns - with Kaleidoscope, stepping through various presets from the same family all using the same custom images and various tuning files (Scala/custom). I left the original recording untouched (no RX4-denoising, there are some loud fan noises and a water spring, but they do nice things to the resonators).

jb...not that didactic like much of the others of this thread (needed to be said !), but it reminds me amazingly of a string section !!

Thank you -I liked applying a "turkish" tuning file to a pentatonic chantljpro1 wrote:Now THAT was awesome . . . . . nice textures and movement . .Processing a field recording I recorded in a Seoul temple some years ago - a Puja performed by +/-70 nuns - with Kaleidoscope, stepping through various presets from the same family all using the same custom images and various tuning files (Scala/custom). Undoubtely (and as usual with sample construct's didactic creations)...ljpro1 wrote:Now THAT was awesome . . . . . nice textures and movement . .Processing a field recording I recorded in a Seoul temple some years ago - a Puja performed by +/-70 nuns - with Kaleidoscope, stepping through various presets from the same family all using the same custom images and various tuning files (Scala/custom). No doubt that such posts are highly interesting both artistically and technically, and really helps to learn concretely how to use one effect/instrument or another in a given contextSampleconstruct wrote:That answered my question, thank youKrakatau wrote:

But they are, IMO, soooooooo much novelties in many audio musical domains that, to be honest, i'm getting a bit lazy ..!
Avec mes humbles excuses..!

here's something real-world-ish:
https://soundcloud.com/2caudio/ks-battl ... w-souter-1
i just made it completely in the past couple hours, so consider it more a sketch than a finished commercial product... but some cool stuff nonetheless for anyone wanting to hear non-ambient/experimental examples...
now some sleep I guess.

After a spot-test, this seems to be working great at Retina resolutions. It actually appears to be more efficient than it was with reduced application resolution, which is great. I'll know more once I have time to do some real work. Anyway, thanks for figuring this out.Galbanum wrote:I've uploaded both Demo and Full versions of build 380. (This is still labeled as 1.0.1.)
This build makes improvements to the retina display issues. The GUI should should be more responsive now when used on retina display macs, and the CPU usage should be less.
One gotcha is that a) the plugin forgets your resources folder when you reinstall it and b) the plugin resets the buffer size to 2048. User name and orga, and probably a bunch of other prefs are reset as well. It would be nice to have these persist if possible. Serial number persists.

This sounds great! What are we listening to though? How many different layers of KS are involved? And what non-KS sounds are we hearing?Galbanum wrote:here's something real-world-ish:

KS is still 'losing' its settings occasionally in Bitwig. Not sure exactly what triggers it but it seems to be related to turning playback on and off and switching between other tracks, possibly from soloing them. Will try to reproduce exact steps.
The tuning sets itself to -5 octaves, image maps disappear and when you open it up again and hit next preset it goes back to the first patch. Guessing this is basically setting a load of the parameters visible to the host to 0? What's interesting is that when you hit the 'show VST window' button, you get a split second view of the correct settings then it all disappears (although maybe this is just the GUI updating late and the parameters were actually set to 0 beforehand).
I know it has been mentioned already and is probably on the list, but just wondering whether people are still having similar problems in other DAWs?

Answering the call from the Boss for more usage examples from Kaleido
I spent som time processing(awkwarding) a track I'm working on with Serum by Xfer Records and the Tabula Rasa soundest, a whole mix is sent into Kaleidoscope where I used Simons preset called Harmonic Cloud making three passes at different base note octaves and crossfaded between the resulting files in Logic X. Added some snaredrum on the final pass using a Kaleidoscope Factory patch "Unmet Expectations", From the Atonal Rhythmic subset to kolor it.
