I've had a few crashes with a lot of use.
Though just making sounds, and not doing any multi-track daw things.
For the most part it's pretty solid.
Though it's crashes are a bit severe, as everything just freezes up and didn't crash the daw.
I had to force quite to fix.

Don't know if these are features rather than bugs but
1. Sticky keys. I double click a key fast and it gets stuck (although it's released on second double click).
2. LFOs work a bit funny way.. And there seems to be no freerunning mode?
3. Sequences and arps are messed up everytime loop is finished and starts again. During first playthrough they're on time but when loop starts again it goes out of time.
And these happened in 32bit reaper.

1. is a feature. Double-click = hold.
2. Funny?
3. Known bug (IIRC). Fixable.

Hello. I am playing the patch Xenos Soundworks/Ambient and Soundscapes/PL Mystic Cave. When I play notes higher than E6, Hive starts to make ripping sounds. When I play E7 it goes into a gnarly run-away high frequency chaos. bug or feature? (Im joking about it being a feature)
Further, once it goes into this run away mode, i can stop it by playing a lower note. but then all the notes are playing with massive amounts of clipping (digital clipping). if i play a note staccato its ok, but if i hole it down it makes the ripping sound and CPU meter in Hive goes higher and higher until max.

I'm getting the same run-away crashes. Seems to be related to patches with high harmonics and/or notes played in the higher octaves. When I play E7 it goes into a gnarly run-away high frequency chaos. bug or feature?

I like many of the sounds this synth can make but it's not cpu friendly at all in it's current state!
Many presets are really hogging up the cpu up to 70-80%!!
If this is not sorted out in the final release it just isn't worth it.
I'm running Pro Tools 11 HD on Windows 7 Ultimate.

Something DEFINITELY wrong there, as Hive is actually very CPU-friendly. Which Hive revision, what CPU?chrisdee wrote:I like many of the sounds this synth can make but it's not cpu friendly at all in it's current state! Greetings,
re: Crashes: Haven't had one yet with the Linux versions.
re: CPU usage: Seems fine here, haven't noticed unreasonably high levels on either machine (dual-core and 6-core AMD CPUs).
If I can just lay off my visits to the local Punjabi restaurant I'll be able to buy Hive soon.
And thanks again to all you patch devs out there ! You're really showing off the synth's capabilities and providing some great learning tools.
Best,
dp

Crashes: none. Windows 7, Live 9.2 / 9.1.7
CPU usage: Low. No crackles and pops, unlike say, Bazille sometimes if more than 2 voices. Six-year old PC - first gen i7 920 2.6ghz - slowly falling apart.
I hope the following parameters will be MIDI-mappable / Live-configurable in the final release:
- LFO1 and LFO2's Shape selectors and polarity switches, more importantly the former.
- Sequencer Selector (Off/Modulator/Play/Record) - I'd love to activate Record from my controller (Push), record some notes, and seamlessy switch to Play mode.
Otherwise operating and tweaking away on this lovely synth is very addictive, just like Bazille.
