Multiband and expand band

Hi,
I'd like to 'misuse' the multiband feature to spread multiple instances of an effect across the panorama rather than across the frequency band. In general this is possible by activating 'expand band' in the multiband settings. Unfortunately this settings is not persistent, after reloading the plugin it's deactivated again.
Is there just another approach to use multiple multiband instances each configured for the whole frequency band ?

Hi,
now that's odd, what exactly are you trying to accomplish with this? The expand band feature is there just so that people can test settings for the separate bands. It basically deactivates all other bands, making it a single band plugin, so I wonder how on earth this could be use creatively

This is the curse of the versality of your plugins, they allow you make to odd things which they are originally not intended for
Here's the idea:
It works so far, but this setting is not saved in the presets.
Here's the idea:
- activate two bands
- set the panning for the first band to the left
- set the panning for the second band to the right
- selected 'expand band' in the multiband settings
- unmute the automatically muted band
It works so far, but this setting is not saved in the presets.

That's an awesome idea. I suspect that there's a more elegant and deliberate way to implement this functionality, but as a quick fudge this is pretty cool. I suspect Vojtech will say 'use two plugins!'

Hehe well folks, I'm strongly against
. This would so extremely criptic, that it's way too far even for me
. And all this would do is to add several panned convolutions, which it would do anyway, just in a very odd way
. Anyway I'm not sure what you are doing, but expand does NOT do this, so apparently you will be fine with just one band
. Expand band mutes all other bands, and lets just one process. Now you can already see the potential confusion and it's not even working!
Sorry folks, not it's a definite "no" to this one.

Hey Vojtech,
I love to place multiple instances of an effect with slight different settings across the panorama. This works fine with your MultiBand plugins and this little fiddle, so my post is no feature request.
This setting is just excluded from the presets.
You are the one to blame because the versatility of your plugins seduces me to do such a horseplay

But clemensi, I really don't think it works that way! (I checked to be sure). If you have multiple bands and expand one of them, then that's the only one that works... Just try 2 band MMultiBandConvolution, load some "box" on band one and "church" on band 2, these are very different obviously. So then you just expand band 1 and there won't be any church anymore.
Edit: Now I can see that you can unmute all of the other bands and they start playing without crossover, well, that's rather extreme
. Ok, I'll check maybe we can save state of this thing, but I'd rather won't put it to documentation, I can already see the surprised faces trying to understand this

Ok, so there will be a "Disabled" crossover, that's quite more obvious

Clemensi...good one.
Some time ago I asked:
'I've been using MMultiBand Convolution as a guitar speaker cab; just one band, IR 1 in filter A, IR 2 in filter B (the two IR's are different). Is there some way (within the plugin) of panning IR 1 left and IR 2 right or do I need to route in the DAW to two instances to achieve this?'
Vojtech replied:
'Well, you can either use 2 instances, or load each IR1 for channel 1 and IR2 for channel 2 - the plugin does that automatically, but they need to be named properly, please check the docs about that.'
I responded:
'Thanks; yes, I had read the docs about naming, but because the IR combinations I want to experiment with are from many different sources I guess 2 instances is the way to go.'
Clemensi, your workaround is much appreciated and Vojtech, your refinement will be splendid.
