Once it starts crashing, it's hard to get it back to normal again... try taking everything out of the VST folder, and reinstalling Tracktion... I found that if I just dragged the new version and let it replace thhe old one, I had more problems... You need to start with a new install! Also, don't rescan the old stuff... start with a new scan... I've never had repairing permissions solve any problems with Tracktion myself...

can't you just trash the settings file? Maybe the mac version is different but there isn't that much to Tracktion that should be different after a reinstall. If the executable isn't hosed, the settings file is about all that's left.
Someone shot the food. Remember: don't shoot food!

I've found a number of unusual problems can be solved by running some simple utilities. Onyx combines many of the most useful into one app. Best of all it's free.
Go to the address below. Download and install for your version of OS X. Run it once a week.
http://www.titanium.free.fr/english/onyx/
I'm in 10.2 and using onyx 1.3.1. Look for the "automate" tab which combines several deep cleaning procedures into one. I check the boxes for clearing cache files and swap discs etc.
As good as this utility is, Disc Warrior is still sometimes necessary for hard drive optimization and defragmentation. That doesn't seem to be your problem but it's worth considering for the future.

anyway, cleaning up the system might help for some things, but not for the scrollbug, or 24bit aiff export, or the freeze problem.
these things will have to be adressed by the developer.

Hi,
We tracked down the problem and it wasn't really tracktion related. My users folder was f**ked up, which made writing settingsfiles and temp files impossible.
Thanks everyone and especially jules for getting back to me about 8 times a day....
cheers

Now that it's working, remember "an ounce of prevention...."
Really, download Onyx and run it at least twice a month. It includes repair permissions, cache clean up, swap files and more. In addition to avoiding problems, it actually helps to keep your system snappy.
Best to you.

I'll check the onyx stuff out. Oh yeah and just to defend my precious mac (my girlfriend is jealous): this kinda problem with a windows machine and it would be a pile of junk, I just popped in my osx cd,rebooted hit repair and i had a fresh install. btw it was my own fault, no software is gonna cure my ignorance
