What is a good way to separate for export?

Hi,

I've been wondering how I could separate tracks for say drums that load in with sfz. Say I wanted to use nskit as the sampler and be able to render out each snare, bdrum, cymbals separately. For those who don't know nskit - lets just say its more or less a mapped out drum kit. C-4 is bdrum d-4 snare, etc.

Also I think maybe we should get some kind of neat export function that could export "selected notes" on a track. Is this possible?

the way i do it is merge all midi clips on the drum track, then select all notes of the same pitch, then make a new clip on a new track and paste the notes into it.

That's the only way I've found to do it, too; it seems like a workaround (which it is), but it only takes 10 seconds, which is less time than I often spend staring blankly at my screen while deciding what to do next.

Just to clarify:

In your midi clip, click on the 'note' you want to isolate. For example, one of the dots on the piano roll that is from the kick drum. In the bottom panel, you will then see a button with "select notes" and an arrow. Click on that, and from the sub-menu, you will have the option to "select all notes with the same pitch". You will then have all the kick drum notes selected.

Go to a new track, make a new MIDI clip, and paste the notes into it. In order to make sure everything lines up, make sure you locator (the purple line) is at the correct place each time, usually at beginning of each new clip. Then you'll be able to line all your new clips up at the same spot, and it should all be in line.
