Great improvements in the last weeks. :tu: :tu:

Just two issues I noticed today:
1) Making a sequence part unique while in (docked) sequence editor MuLab doesn't show the new name in sequence editor until leaving it.
2) I opened the latest "session" file directly on MuLab startup (upper entry) and saved it later (implicitly as "project") and exited MuLab. Next time I started MuLab and opened again my latest work (upper entry) and I got - the latest (and older) "session" file, not the newest "project" file. That's really puzzling.

I can't repeat this. I assume you were talking about a floating sequence editor, right?

:dog: Yes, my fault. Normally I never use the floating editor, always docked.
But the prob still appears in floating editor. (MuLab Version 6.4.2)

Another issue:
Now when opening a part via context menu in composer and selection "Edit In Key Editor" I get the floating editor, not the docked one as before. Prior to this I possibly selected "Show Floating Editor" in the context menu of the "Editor" knob for the very first time. (My preference "Standard floating Part Editors" is off.)

Still can't repeat it, when i test this the floating sequence editor window title is updated properly when doing "Make Unique".
Now when opening a part via context menu in composer and selection "Edit In Key Editor" I get the floating editor, not the docked one as before.
I checked things and it has always been the floating editor in that case, nothing changed.

Confirmed, will be fixed asap, thanks!

I just ran a stress test - I loaded up my 35 "preferred" drum kits (it takes about 15 minutes and 26GB of RAM), made a number of changes to the VST configurations (Kontakt 5 in all cases), saving the project a number of times along the way. This was all with audio routed to JackRouter. After setting up, I ran Jamulus (real time jam software) and routed audio out through that and back into MuLab and saved that as a new project.

No errors so far. I'll try a recording session tomorrow morning -- partly to see how easy it is, as I've not tried this set up yet.

Hi Jo, let me clean up my recent posts relating the 3 issues:

1) This bug is still there (6.4.2, win32), though I cannot isolate it in a new, small session. But I tried 2 different, large sessions, with two different behaviours besides the correct one. Please try the following:
  • Open a huge session.
  • Copy an existing sequence part giving a shared part pointing to the same sequence, let's say "Sequence(98)".
  • Right-click the copied part and select "Edit In Key Editor" giving a new windows with the title "Sequence(98)"
  • Right-click on a clear place in the Note Editor and select "Make Unique Sequence"
  • The title floating editor remains "Sequence(98)" (wrong!)
  • The title in the composer got a new name (correct!).
In the second case I got the result that new and old names were swapped in composer.

2) You already confirmed this.

3) "Edit In Key Editor": Okay, I wouldn't swear that the docked editor was opend. But I think this at least would be the expected behaviour depending on the preference "Show Floating Editor".

BTW: What about a different, possibly more intuitive approach:

4) Drop the context menu of the "Editor" button and duplicate the part's context menu entry "Edit In Key Editor" to two new ones:
  • Edit in Floating Editor
  • Edit In Docked Editor

Until then or until i encounter the issue myself i'll not actively search further for it as it's not efficient r&d (better to handle it when it occurs) and it's also not a high priority issue. So many things to work on, hope you agree with this bird's eye view decission. Anyway, thanks a lot for reporting this, i'll certainly keep an eye on it!
2) You already confirmed this.
Yes, fixed in the next M6.4.4.

Thanks JR!

For me it's no big deal, just puzzling. Thanks for considering about it.

Any opinion about "4)"?
No big deal too, but for me this singular menu entry appears lost anyhow. It seems to be a makeshift, doesn't it?

I'll keep it as is for now. Thx for the suggestion.

There is a new MuLab 6.4.5 test version in http://www.mutools.com/forsythia/

Changes since M6.4.3:
  • New shortcut functions "Rewind One Step" and "Forward One Step".
  • New MIDI Channel Remapper module to remap the 16 MIDI channels to another channel.
  • Improved transition from "Session" to "Project".
  • Zooming in/out in the composer and part editors using a shortcut or the scrollbar buttons now focuses on the play cursor (if it's already visible) instead of the center of the editor.
  • Sequence editor: When changing the editor grid, the event property panel now immediately takes that into account.
  • In rare specific cases editors could open with an improper size. Fixed.
  • Improved shortcut system: Less chance that a shortcut is not processed because of a UI focus mismatch.
  • New shortcut function "Set Play Position At Mouse Cursor".
  • Pitch-bend automation editing: Couldn't type in a negative envelope point value eg -50%. Fixed.
  • Automation editor now also supports inputting parameter values in their specific format eg "2450 Hz" for a cutoff parameter automation.
How to upgrade from MuLab 6.2.x or up:
OSX: Simply replace the MuLab.app by the new version.
Windows: Simply replace the MuLab.exe + MuLab.ID files by the new versions.

Might be a good idea to remind people about downloading the whole package every now and then in case of any associated folders, as in the MFO preset folder mentioned in another thread.
Or is it just me that misses things :D
