Hi, just trying out the demo...

I can't seem to find any recorded automation for AT. I tried to add an Automation track but don't see an option to assign aftertouch. Selected it under custom (not sure what that does) but there's no automation being recorded. Can anyone help?

Aftertouch is a midi CC event so it can be found in the midi editor of the recorded midi clip. Click on 'control' for showing the data. Under 'type' you will find the aftertouch.

Surely aftertouch is just a component of the midi data. This can be used to control a parameter on a vsti, so what you need to automate is the parameter, not the aftertouch. All automatable parameters of the plugs on that track should be available.
Am I missing the point?

Thanks. Sorry if i was thinking about it in the wrong way, but regardless, I had selected it under control and the data is not showing up. So there's something else I'm missing.

Perhaps it's a bug but unfortunately can't check for you since I don't have a device with aftertouch atm.

Basically, to be a little clearer, I can hear that the AT has been recorded, but I can't get the data to show up to edit.

Also--testing t6 on Mac 10.8.5

Click on 'Control' in the midi editor toolbar and then 'type' and select 'channel pressure'.

Curious to know what aftertouch is there for, since I understood most references to "aftertouch" were really just channel pressure. I.e., what's the difference between these in Control?

It's for poly aftertouch, which only a select few keyboards use. People generally refer to channel pressure as aftertouch too though, hence the confusion. tbh it would probably be clearer if they used the terms 'channel aftertouch' and 'polyphonic aftertouch'.

Thanks, that's good to hear. I bought one of those CME xkey things last, year. I guess it might be time to dust it off.

Yeah, I got one of those CME things too, and will have to play with it some more. I found I had to turn off the PolyAftertouch, as it would send a flurry of aftertouch messages, and would "overload" something on my old 2G memory XP machine. When that would happen, I would have to exit Tracktion and restart.

I compared it to my old VFX, and there is a world of difference in the aftertouch being sent - the VFX sends a few AT messages only when I REALLY press the keys. The default settings on the CME are sending almost continuous AT messages on all pressed keys, even if I try to keep even pressure on all keys !

(This monitored via Midi-OX).
