Bazille XY pads

... would be a great addition. It's a very expressive synthesizer but it's hard to keep everything at bay with just modwheel and aftertouch (probably because they're cabled as well), plus - it becomes nigh impossible to control it in real-time with the more unusual controllers in DAWs other than Ableton or Bitwig (courtesy of their lightweight macro knobs) and MIDI learn isn't helpful at all when one needs precise control over 20 cents of an oscillator tuning and of PD coarse values in the interval of 0.9... or something. Would help greatly in the process of unveiling the growing patch.
XY pads or any iteration of their functionality in Bazille would be greatly welcomed by some, I'm sure ( :

I agree. I've always desired XY pads for Bazille, even if it is slightly against its spirit. They are just so useful once you know which parameters you want to modulate consistently for a given complex patch, while also returning them to the patch's default state quickly.

I think XY pads are easy to add for those who are experienced in hacking the skin .txt scripts. As we can see in Zebra Redux, where drzhnn added XYs as part of certain filters/oscillators to facilitate editing. Surely something can be coaxed for Bazille, too.
(drzhnn, where are you?

Not mappable to multiple parameters, though!EvilDragon wrote:I think XY pads are easy to add for those who are experienced in hacking the skin .txt scripts. I'm a bit reluctant of XY controls. Hardly any preset for Zebra deploys them. It's as if that's too much of a burden to put upon the preset designers.
We think that it's necessary to create some sort of intelligent algorithm to auto-setup XY controls. A bit of that is available on right-clicking Zebra's. However, that is still to rudimentary. There needs to be a quick and effortless setup, with options to go deeper if one so wishes. That is going to be one of the major challenges of Zebra3 development.

I'd use them more for myself if there were a set of snapshot buttons.Urs wrote:I'm a bit reluctant of XY controls. Hardly any preset for Zebra deploys them. It's as if that's too much of a burden to put upon the preset designers.

I'd use them all the time if they were automatable, ie had 2-dimensional loopable envelopes.

I'm in love with XY controls and it's not that bad that preset designers avoiding them. Let's customers use them.Urs wrote:I'm a bit reluctant of XY controls. Hardly any preset for Zebra deploys them. It's as if that's too much of a burden to put upon the preset designers.

It's really handy to assign XY instead of modifying params directly, so it's kind of instant recall when XYs are at 0s i.e. original patch with no mods. Especially useful if session was a week or month ago.
Also oversimplification on such a geeky synth like Zebra might be bad idea. There are lot of other areas that need to be improved/changed/redesigned.
And yes, if it's possible to add XYs to Bazille, please add it. They are going to be really handy there too.
Murderous duck!

Never used a preset, so I wouldn't know - it is basically the only proper way to use the more unorthodox controllers, like the QuNeo or Leap Motion, though, especially in DAWs that don't have macro functionality (without resorting to modular plugin hosts).Urs wrote:I'm a bit reluctant of XY controls. Not necessarily XY, but something that would allow for mapping a controller to an interval of the parameter (it's only XY or macro knobs I can think of; I, for example, use XY as macro knobs, actually)
Brzzzzzzt.
