No sound with spire (SOLVED)

Hello Joe,
I have a big problem with Spire.
No sound at all ! I just installed latest version and got the license today. Installation is fine cause it runs in Tracktion without problem and shows up fine in Mulab.
Mulab installation is fine to, I just finished OSC track with Synthmaster, 13 instances, no problem. Just replaced one instance with Spire, no sound. New project, no sound. Had the official 6.3.6 now tried the 6.4.5, wont help.
I have of course tried the demo under nearly same condition (another PC but with windows 7, mulab and spire just 32 bit), there evrything was fine, no problem at all.
I am totally puzzled and have no idea.
Would be great if you could test the actual Spire demo and see if you have same problem.
Kind regards,
Richard

I really cant understand. Evrything was fine with my pc at work too, win 7, evrything nearly the same. Works here on Tracktion 5. Mulab works fine. Just have installed an older version of Spire, same problem, just no sound. Checked evrything else, it is just a miracle for me. Have mailed Reveal Sound, maybe they have an idea. I was so exited and wanted to try it out on my song replacing some synthmaster parts with it now
Thanks to you AndreasD just the same, so I know it is no general problem...
Kind regards,
Richard

Just for the fun of it, download Mulab new and install it somewhere else. It's just the unzip of the files.
And try Spire again. Install Spire by drag&drop then DLL file into a rack.
It must be some routing or setting in your system.
I already installed Spire last year and didn't had any problems then.

Hello AndreasD,
it nearly drives me crazy.
Must be something in the way you supposed but I just cant solve it. I have tried a new installation, wont help. Set all the "run by administrator", "total access" on mulab and the spire dll, just no sound.
The crazy thing is: only way I can hear anything on my pc is when I run BOTH a free older mulab version AND the Spire Version I used at work FROM my USB Stick where I copied the folders. Changing anything on this setting (copying a folder to my drive on the PC, no matter in which folder or wherever) and again no sound at all. I even tried making a projct with working Spire, reopening with version on PC and relocating the Spire folder, no sound.....
I am very thankful for your help but no one neither from Mulab nor from Reveal Sound seems to be interested to help in any way and I have no idea where to go on further cause it is no option to run evrything from USB-Stick. So only options at the moment: throwing Mulab (and then final decision for Tracktion 5 as DAW.....) or Spire in the barrel.....
Thank you again, I will give it up for now no mind to let it ruin me the rest of the sunday evening.....
Thank you again AndreasD, helps a lot not to feel totally alone with it,
Richard

Just plugged in the latest Spire VST demo in MuLab 6, works immediately without any prob.
Tip: Start with a new MuLab project and simply drop the spire.dll on the [+] Rack button, that will create a new rack with spire plugged in and ready to play from MIDI.

Just thinking loud: If there would be a permission error the DLL would just not load. But OP says it's just that Spire makes no sound, so it does load, so it's not a permission error, unless i'm missing something.

Of course could not let it go cause it drives me crazy. Still dont know where the problem is but find something I could not live with on the long run but at least to just hear ANYTHING...
I am sure it is no permission error, I was threw with all that problems before. Now evrything is on C:/Mulab, as I told, evrytime start as administrator, total access for th user for both mulab.exe and spire.dll.
My workaround just for a (short) moment I hope: I have copied the old free mulab installation and the Spire folder from the USB-Stick to C:/. There this two installations worked together. Evrything else with drag and drop, new project, opening this spire with my regular mulab etc.. all dont work, just those two folders from the usb stick.
Then I licensed the free version, updated it with the last mulab.exe and .id and that still worked. Problem: I now have two installed Mulab version, one with EVRYTHING in my user directory (all mux, all VST links etc.), the other one with only spire working. But at least I hear something from spire, rest will have to wait......
Thank you Joe, even if it is not a general problem with Mulab, for the user in the end it dont make not so much difference where the problem lies, when Spire works with Tracktion and Mulab works with evry other VST on my PC but not with Spire at least the problem DONT lies in Tracktion I think......
for you all and sorry if sometimes it just makes me

Spire works fine in MuLab.
You don't nee to make it too complex with different MuLab versions etc.
Using Spire (or any VST) in MuLab is simple.
Did you try what i suggested? (new session, drop spire.dll on [+] Rack)
Still no sound then?

Hello Joe,
yes I have tried like you and AndreasD told before. Opened a new project, dropped the spire *.dll from within the mulab browser on the rack. That works fine, Spire is shown, I can open it but just NO SOUND (the projekt has sound, all other VST have sound) !
I know how crazy it sounds and thats what drives ME crazy. I have opened (hundreds) of vst before in Mulab (and dozens of other DAW) and as I said the spire.dll works fine in Tracktion !
So this complicated way I have described was the only way I could solve this, I am open for any other solution, as I told I am not happy with different Mulab installations but it is just better then no Spire at all.
And Mulab/Spire works fine on my win 7 PC at work and it works fine on my Notebook with win 7 at work but just NOT at my music PC with win 7 at home....
Kind regards,
Richard

About the configuration where it is not working:
What Windows version is that?
What Spire version?
Does it work with the most up to date Spire demo version on that same Windows pc?

Hello Joe,
windows 7 home premium 64 bit on my home pc where it dont work, last updated last week with windows patchday, all DAW/VST work on 32 bit (for more details I have to look in the evening, now I am at work).
Windows version might be an aspect, at work where evrything is fine with Mulab/Spire we used windows 7 professional version 64 bit on both PC and notebook because of network integration. DAW/Spire version there was 32 bit too.
Spire I have tried both versions, the actual demo and the version before. Version changing in Spire dont change anything with the problem.

I also plugged in Spire on MuLab 6 32 bit on Win 7 32 bit, works fine. Hopefully Reveal Sound will also help in sorting out the specific issue you encounter.

Have posted this thread in my question in the revealsound forum.
Think until someone has the glorious idea I will have to live with my two installations so far.
