currently SC seems to have the problem that their new interface is not reflecting editing changes. if you switch to the classic edit mode (just add -classic on the edit site and reload) one can see that app playback is still disabled. also when you go these sites offering your tracks you will see they have nothing or at least 0 kb.
I alss did write to SC-service to fix that prob.

I submit that, currently, SC seems to have many problems. This is just the latest.

Here's some of my stuff: https://soundcloud.com/shadowsoflife. If you hear something you like, I'm looking for collaborators.

No answer yet, the whole thing seems broken right now, if you disable "Enable app playback" and store that change, a message pops up at the upper right "Your track was saved successfully", then when you re-visit the Permissions tab to double check, "Enable app playback" is activated again.

They must be having trouble reaching the keyboard over all the piles of money..... :scared:

Jesus...another one of these threads? Can we just get a sticky on this topic?

I'm certain within the 4 pages of responses, someone has already touched on this, but, screw it, let me reitterate this point:
You're not special. It's fair to say all of our music (if it is posted to ANY flash-player based website) is on a website similar.
Flash is not a secure platform, it's very, very easy to rip a direct stream.
Fighting them is a pointless battle because chances are this site's owner owns a similar farm of sites. Taking down one, just means putting up another 2.

You know the best way to avoid this kind of stuff? Don't worry about it, don't link to it, and just ignore it.
Linking to it draws attention to it, and if you are concerned whether or not who or how your music is distributed, the best thing to do is not draw attention to where people can find it for free. Secondly, linking to it can draw traffic to it, which boosts the popularity of the site and thusly makes it turn up as a higher result in search engine results. Worrying about this is futile, as i mentioned above, so the best way to not worry about it is to ignore it entirely. If you want to take action, send a message to Soundcloud. In most cases there is nothing they can do directly, but if they are made aware they can add it to a blacklist.

I stumbled across one site like this by googling a long string of text from a comment on a track.

if anything you're getting a tiny bit more exposure, in random places. you could get a Russian following. :) they aren't going to buy anything but if you want that, you need to do some work for it and spend some money behind it. if somebody else was making money off my tracks... well that would mean I am making money in the first place. And if all of these sites are grabbing my music which 90% of has no commercial potential, it really does mean nothing other than they'll take what isn't nailed down. and there is no nailing down.

Yep the same thing happened to me. SoundCloud basically said there isn't much they can do.
This is the site that has cloned my site, they offer free downloads of my music without my permission. mp3 (dot) adpla (dot) net

Hosted in the US here - help (dot) 1and1 (dot) com

I don't allow downloads for my music on SC anyways. Total BS and Soundcloud needs to deal with them. Soundcloud gave me the same reply that everyone else has gotten and posted on this thread.

This guy is in Indo nesia (separated for spam filter). I'm thinking of contacting the FBI and let them take care of this issue.

If you're not a corporate empire, I'm sure the FBI will get right on that for you. :-/

Yeah well when it comes to copyright infringement and enforcement the FBI is your only means of rectification. Sucks cause this site is climbing the search results and is now #4 when you google my name. Totally ridiculous. What can be done about this?

Apparently gone now.
