I know that! I was just wondering if SC would compile without modification using Kylix, perhaps for use in some Linux host? Are there any?. SC uses 3rd party stuff. Some of yours I believe. And some drag'n'drop thing that has a windys installer. So no would be the answer to my own question.
If there was an easier way to port SC I'd use it! Or someone else would have.
It's looking like I'll be writing me own vstgui components.

Eh yes. That's what I'm doing. Did I give the impression I wasnt doing it? Or did you mean no StepChildOSX NOW? I was ill for a while so it's behind schedule. jStepChild is on hold until the wrappers fixed (wipes tracktion right out). Native version coming along.

I'm spending WAY too much time farting about with graphics for the GUI.
Anyone up for doing the graphics for me? If anyones interested they could redesign the GUI completely or just give it a different look n feel type thing or just chop up the original interface?
The step buttons are just colored blocks (4-states) and the bigger buttons are just 1-state at the minute. Could be made more interesting?
Maybe Mods does'nt want his interface compromised? Nah, he wouldn't mind, but maybe it's best to replicate what exists?
Don't know, don't care, but if you leave it to me it'll be a mess.
Have I asked this before? Hmm. Canna mind.

Rack, Are you offering to do the graphics for Karben's mac port of stepchild? If that's so, thank you!

I wish I had the time and experience to help out here. I'm a painter but haven't done any programming.

I hope it won't sound ungrateful but could you keep the GUI as simple as possible? Specifically, I'm thinking clean lines that mimic Tracktion's design but without drop shading or translucent effects to save cpu. As far as function, I like the layout of stepchild for pc and would prefer that the mac port retained the basic layout.

Thanks again Karben for doing this. It's sorely needed and will be much appreciated.

im not sure what i'll do with the GUI yet but have no worries
i've GUIed about thirty or so plugs now comercial and free so just let me do my thing and see what you think
personally i was kinda hoping this whole idea of Forms would get people more interested in chipping in on these projects
Mod has absolutly no interest in what we do with stepchild other than the interest in seeing what we do with his baby
he doesnt care what it looks like or what features get added or taken away
if a few more C++ heads got involved i think this could help Forms and any GFX guys could help out on the GUI
wouldnt this be a great opportunity to get an open source Step Sequencer where the users decide what features should be added
but theres no way anybody could expect that sort of service from one man for free
a little bird tells me that Mods idea for his original Stepchild is starting to look like a completly new beast

so this would make the Forms port even more useful as the standard basic Stepchild
and Mods would be sort of the advanced Stepchild

oh and i just need to say one last thing

any f**king monkeys out there who dont see the importance of Forms port suck my dick
and that includes PC heads not just macguys
you will see Stepchild in CM all the time once its C++ becuase it can be used on any platform

and lets not forget the work hes been doing in Java
this work could possibly be the most important thing forms has brought to the scene so far
if he gets a working version of jstepchild then we all need to seriously take our hats off to him
i know Storm uses Java but it isnt written in Java and its not a true VSTi anyway
NEVER undeerestimate the power of Karbon
All hail Mod the God without him this whole thing wouldnt even be a thought
